Hey, nice to see a post from you again. I am sorry to hear that you are going through a rough patch, great to know that you are still out there rowing strong! I wouldn't worry about back logging and having your meters challenged, has that actually happened? My attitude is that I live with integrity, I log earnestly, I do not seek any prizes; although I honestly liked getting the Million meter t-shirt. :D If anyone wanted to challenge my meters, they're welcome to do so, even if they stripped meters from my log; they can't strip all the benefit and joy I've gotten from rowing. Thirty minutes a day is great, I have been really enjoying the Mud Season challenge and have been using it to improve my rowing technique. I hope your flare ups subside, I love seeing those 50k days popping up with alarming regularity on Izzy and Lisa's team reports; it's truly inspirational. I am sure you know more about dealing with your maladies than any advice I could offer; but those of us who exercise all the time often find it hard to let ourselves rest up and heal fully which may ultimately be the best course of action. Take care Diane!

Great workout today. Legs weights - dead lifts, squats, leg extensions, leg curls, and calf raises. Twenty sets in all, the tricky part was that when I finished I still had to row my 5K for the Mud Season challenge. That was a really hard 5K row and not a very fast one either. I am managing to control my stroke rate much better with all my daily practice of late. Nite all, tomorrow dawns a new challenge the WEC! Go Team!!! :P

Diane I hope you feel better soon. Trust me, no one is going to have an issue with you logging old meters. We've all seen you row past us at some point this year!

Keep up the great rowing!

Diane, good to hear from you! You've been missed, and have been on my mind a lot. Sorry you're suffering some flare-ups... I hope they ease off soon.

I wouldn't worry about loading your old meters. We had a guy on the team who used a card reader or some other import device (or maybe he loaded them from RowPro), and would have an influx of 800 or 900k at a time. If you're using a log card you can directly upload by attaching your PM to your computer -- but I've not used that and don't know if it would avoid creating duplicates for older, already-logged entries. http://www.concept2.com/service/softwar ... t2-utility

Hoping you're feeling better soon!

OK Team! The World Erg Challenge starts TODAY!!! Get on board the challenge team, if you haven't already. Out of our 89 affiliation members, only 39 are on board for the challenge (and many of those aren't even on the affiliation!). That's much less than half! We need YOU!!!!

"NO EXCUSES"....

I want to give a special welcome to my "real-life" friend Keir Pearson, who joins us on our affiliation and challenge teams while he's training up for something next year. Keir has quite a pedigree as an OTW rower but is mostly a runner and swimmer these days. He's kindly agreed (mostly to stop me whining) to add his meters to our boat. Maybe he'll pop in here to the team room and tell you his story.

But probably not.

Hi guys, I just wanted to say Im so sorry but Ive been told to slow down my rowing a bit, rowing 2 hrs a day has taken a toll on my knees(Dr says Im low on calcium) so its gonna go down to about 15-17k. My joints ache from over rowing this week(was trying to burn off a 900 calorie deep fried ice cream, rowing 28k was overkill), and unfortunately, the knee joints are painful as a result! I need to take Sunday off as well, its my free day! Sorry to disappoint with the team challenge! :(

Hey Janice, I'm not surprised you got this advice -- you set kind of a high bar for yourself! Take a few days off and rest those knees...

Deep fried ice cream? Did it have bacon at least? :D :D :D

Thanks Jim; it's good to be rowing strong again. What with the thyroid thing and all that followed, I put on a lot of weight, so there will be no talk of ice cream from me this season!

I got a bit carried away rowing this morning. During my last 5k I started watching The British Beat on PBS (taped last night) and man it was good to hear some of that old music again. I would have felt ridiculous dancing in my sweaty gym strip, so I did another 5k on the rower.

Eric Burdon was pretty cool back in the 60's and he's still got it now in his 70's. B)
