Getting back into it now.
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
So I have been posting a lot lately, but I am so into rowing and the C2 that I need an outlet where I won't drive my wife crazy; even though after putting up with me for over 25 years I'm sure it would be a short drive. I am ecstatic about my rows today for several reasons. First, I passed 2 million lifetime meters. It took me just a hair under 13 months. Secondly, I also topped half a million meters for the season and feel like I am really progressing on my technique . That last bit on improving my technique is the most promising and exciting to me. Today I did a 30 minute lunchtime row, I wasn't going to try for anything special since I was still sore from a hard workout on Wednesday. About 4:45 seconds in I was at a thousand meters when I remembered that I should be focusing on my stroke rate and power regardless of whether I am trying to test my ability during the current row. So I lowered my stroke rate to around 24-25 and just tried to deliver each stroke with as much power as I could smoothly generate. Over the last 25:15, I kept my stroke rate between 21-25 SPM until the final minute when I picked it up a little to around 27 SPM. By the end of the row, I had established a new personal best, posting 7100 meters in 30 minutes. This is now a baseline to build upon, I know I can add at least 200 to 300 hundred meters to my 30 the next time I test it start to finish. I am now hooked on going faster by rowing slower but stronger
I know I am not setting any records, other than personal but I find the progress exhilarating and I want to thank those who have offered encouragement and advice along the way. Getting better results at 24 strokes per minute than I used to at 35 is exciting! Anyway have a great Labor Day weekend all.

Well, that's sort of a bad-new/good-news thing -- bad news that you're injured, but good in that you're not still erging with a broken foot!brotherjim wrote:damselfly wrote:

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hey team,
This has been the best week exercise-wise for me in quite a while -- three runs (tho one was on the dreadmill), two rows, various weights, and almost an hour in the pool today (half of that was pool running)!! It is nothing short of miraculous what my physical therapist has done for my shoulders. I still am not putting much power in either rowing or swimming, but just being able to get more active is wonderful. I think I will always be contending with various joint pains from now on -- next to diagnose is my hands. But definitely my quality of everyday life has been restored.
Hopefully I'll be able to put in some meters at least twice a week now, but am not going to promise much for the fall challenge. But I'll be here cheering on you power rowers!!
Row Strong, Team!!!
