Hi all,

Qualified for the team this month, and have just joined up.

It's going to be 43oC on Saturday and if that's any sort of portent for the coming month, I doubt I'll be doing megametres...
Yay! Welcome Max and Happy Birthday... although you are probably thinking '50! how the feck did that happen!?'
Good to have you onboard.
A new ranking category being the youngster for a change :D

Day 1 of the holiday challenge.... tick! Managed to get just over 10k in tonight.
Hope rest of the team is dusting off that erg B)
Thanks Dino,
I really do need to get some TTs done to take advantage of my new youthful status :)

50 is just a number, but the whole aging thing is made weird by moving halfway round the world - I half expect my UK friends still to be in their late 30s, but on the rare occasions that we do catch up, it turns out that they've aged too!

10k yesterday iaw the challenge calendar
Today called up 4x1500m, but that wasn't happening when it was still 30oC at 9.30pm. 30' with some rate changes instead. Like exercising in a sauna.

Been roughly keeping to the challenge calendar:

28/11 - 6839 m, including a failed 500m TT and a 329m 1' PB
29/11 - 21097m instead of 4x20'
30/11 - 10664m rate ladder

1/11 - rest day
2/11 - 10022 1 stroke on/1 off up to 30 on 30 off. Must have miscounted as only got to 863 strokes (should have been 930).

Total challenge metres to date: 65734m

I'm in for the Holiday challenge.
Going for big meters - have gone big in the past.
Recovering from Lyme disease, my energy is way way down still.

Going to do as mush as can and hoping to don't get run down and sick.
Want to try to push through - see where i'm at.
Update: I clipped over 200K yesterday. But I'm slightly behind 1,000,0000 pace. Will try to catch back up today.

Feeling decent. Had a bout of extreme fatigue on Sunday. This is what I've been dealing with coming out of the Lyme fog.
Also been trying to still doing some outdoor cycling, which taxes my energy for the Holiday Challenge.

That is a huge total and target! Congratulations on already getting your 200k!! :o :D

Are you a member of the team? I couldn't see any of the 50Plus team members on the 200k honour board - just one on the 100k board. Apologies if have missed spotting you.
From your logbook you just need to go to the teams tab and join the 50Plus team - there is no approval needed.
Although this isn't a team event, I can check the honour board for team members and update this thread when team members start appearing.

This is the update I pulled off this afternoon:

50Plus 2020 Holiday Challenge Honor Board
  • Anders F - 117223m
Team 50Plus has 43 members of which 1 are on the honour boards :)
The members who have completed the challenge have rowed 117223m
In total, 429 people have completed the challenge so far, gaining at least a 100k certificate.
Of these people, 31 have also made it onto the 200k honour board.

40' WP L4
180-180-180-180.

40:00.0 9,146m 2:11.2 155 833 18

Felt quite inconsistent and I did slightly over-stroke at 730 strokes vs target of 720.
Target 9124m vs actual 9146m was pretty close, so perhaps not too bad after all.

Ticked me over the 100k mark for the challenge, now sitting at 101,131m

Nice one Max - ticking along nicely for the challenge. 200k will be easily achieved at this rate.
I think you have selected Affiliation as 50plus rather than Team? You can have both, but for the Team challenges will need to join the team on the Teams tab. You can have different affiliation to team. Although this is not a team challenge, when I pull off the stats, I check team membership.

Just had a quick look to see how the challenge is going for 50Plus:

50Plus 2020 Holiday Challenge Honour Board
  • Anders F - 185829m
  • James B - 128932m

Does anyone know how the January Revolutions Individual Challenge and the January Virtual Team Challenge work?
Can you do both simultaneously if you sign up for both? Or do you have to choose between them, doing one or the other?

Keep plugging along on the Holiday challenge everyone :) My goal is 200,000m so I can have extra frosted Christmas cookies!!!! :D

As far as I remember you sign up for the team event as any normal team event, then pick a goal for the individual challenge. Your metres will count towards both challenges.
You'll easily top 200k Rod - steaming along!

Thanks for the info :)
Now I'll just need to decide to row for hours or calories :?:
Since I do a lot of heart rate capped workouts, I'm guessing rowing for hours would better for the individual challenge.

Happy to have gone past the 100k - was hoping to get to 200k, but had a trail night HM on the weekend which has really taken it out of the legs, still sore now. With working most days between now and the end of the challenge, it's going to be hard work to even get close to it !

Well done Robbie - a HM trail run at night sounds epic! ...and well done on the 100k too :D
After today 9 days left, 11k a day? still doable if you take it easy. Find a good series to watch on Netflix with 50 min episodes and watch one a night whilst rowing!

I am back on track after a few longer days doing some Zwift group rides on the rower which makes sure I get on with it... although going to be tough to beat my total from last year, but I am going to keep plugging away and see where I end up :D
