Image Countdown....4 days to row in this Challenge !

1 FRENCH INDOOR ROWERS TEAM Virtual Club 37,635,798 275 136,857
2 Age Without Limits Virtual Club 31,008,300 193 160,665
3 Community Fitness Pointe of Munster, In. Health Club 18,108,758 291 62,229
4 Free Spirits Virtual Club 17,521,938 145 120,841
5 RowPro Team Virtual Club 13,783,275 95 145,087
6 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 12,408,572 77 161,150

Good thing we have an endless supply of virtual fireworks, because we've been lighting up the skies all over the place (wait....maybe that was voodoogirl 'Lectrifying Laurie :D...). We are in the home stretch heading for the rowing machine barn that awaits at the end of the season. Once there, our machines get a quick maintenance...and we rush to see who is first to get back on the team roster by posting some meters! Meanwhile, the number gnomes are having a field day (field days are popular at the end of the rowing year much as they are popular at the end of the school year here in the US...where we need a different view of things to manage through SPRING FEVER!!!). The snow has melted, and I'll swear the lawn is two inches longer than it was yesterday.

And we are closer to the moon than we were at the beginning of the rowing season. Stephen Hawking, the British physicist with Lou Gehrig's disease who is renowned for his work on black holes and the origins of the cosmos, recently spoke at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA. He says that the future of the human race is dependent upon our exploration of space. " Look up at the stars, and not down at your feet. Be curious. " Onward! To The moon, mates, to the moon! Ad astra !!

Season meters as of 346/365 = 142,505,589 m

Total meters on the day = 319,621 m

Oars in space (participation) = 22 percent

We wish it was that time of the year again.... Thanks to global warming we are facing one of the coldest winters in a long time.
Even Easter was colder then Christmas!!! Those poor tulips are still waiting for some sunshine and higher temperatures. It seems finally this weekend we leave the low 40`s behind. So in 4 to 6 weeks the fields should be covered in rainbow colours again.
Sadly enough, since The Netherlands follows our weather pattern here in Iowa by about 5 days, I'm predicting frost again for you guys in a week and a half (we had warm weather for a little bit, but it's getting colder again and next week we may get snow again on Wednesday. That would give you guys a change for snow the Monday after next. For now, enjoy 5 days of rain and drizzle (if the Netherlands follows our pattern like it usually does. It's a running observation between my mom and myself).

Sigh. Have spent multiple hours trying to work with Photobucket for posting graphics. Will see if I can post any today. Major disappointment. If I go back through forum pages, I can generally copy the link that I originally posted. I cannot, however, go into my photobucket album and get a link for the items there. Go figure. Growing pains for a web-based service I guess.

Image The Challenge end is nearer......

1 FRENCH INDOOR ROWERS TEAM Virtual Club 39,200,773 275 142,548
2 Age Without Limits Virtual Club 32,028,618 193 165,951

7 Greensburg Rowing Team Correctional Facility 12,671,000 6 2,111,833

Whoa. Not sure if we'll hang on for the number six spot. Major meter upload by the Greensburg Team. That's a lot of rowing per person, and might just earn them another rowing machine.

I'm very upset to see the Jeffery Dahmer Team can recieve a new Rower. When the virtual teams can't . Isn't bad enough that we give them free room and board? Oh who paid for there Lawyers. Maybe if the the familys of them had to pay for court fees and there room and board there would be less crime This year alone I have purchased a skierg and a model d rower. And yes there room and board hope you enjoy the Rower You earned it NOT

I somewhat agree. Although a jail receiving more fitness equipment means that it's less of a drain on the funding of the facilities to keep the place equipped, and as such it may mean that they can afford body armor for one of the guards.

As much as I do not want to give anything to criminals, if they put in the work, they do deserve the reward. Granted, they have a lot more time than I do and nothing better to do, but for them to be rowing is better than many other options.

Plus, the biggest crooks sit in Washington (or lobby for those in Washington), and they give themselves free stuff all the time. And unlike the free rower from C2, that stuff is paid for with my money (directly or indirectly).

Now, as far as rewards for virtual teams: I'd love to see rewards (even if I'm not in the challenge this year) for the team. Just not sure what it should be. Best I can think of would be a 20% off coupon for accessories or something like that from C2. Or a free shipping offer or something like that.

Edit:

http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/conte ... ml?nav=742

Apparently the prison is going to close in the near future, so giving them a rower would indeed be a waste :).

Edit 2:

There is a chance that maybe it's the guards working out in their spare time. Although that's a lot of rowing for 6 guards in a medium-security prison.

This is one of the reasons why I have this poster up in my home gym. Whenever I see it I am motivated to get that workout in.

Whoa. More Rocky Mountain Springtime. You know, the kind preceded by winds that whip along at a 30 mph clip....and tell you every single window and door that needs a little more insulation as the wind whistles through them. She's A Meter Millionaire !!!

Whoop, whoop and hooyah! There are many stories told throughout the rowing season. Sometimes, getting to what appears to be the same sort of number of meters generated in previous years really takes a lot more grit and determination, though and we don't always hear about that!....and I'm betting that's what it took for Bobbie to get to a million meters this year. She's acknowledged that her knee replacement didn't help her out like she wanted it to do -- and those who have knee issues when they row sure can empathize. So here's an extra heartfelt hurrah! for Bobbie for rowing some tough meters! Congratulations on achieving a ONE million meter rowing season! We wish you many, MANY more!! Way to row!

Hooyah! Barb's on the course somewhere ....and it looks to be a fine day for running the Boston Marathon! Keep sending those Luna-Tic good thoughts her way because even when the temperatures are about perfect for running, hooboy that's a long way to go!

And for those rowing in solidarity (thanks Minnie for that thought) with Barbara's running, looks like we have TWO full marathon finishers so far. Way to row in support of a teammate's goals !! And, for those of us that would totally expire if we tried to do a full marathon today, cheering is a great way to support a teammate, too!
