Oh Jodi, so very sorry to hear! I've been flooded twice and it was awful. Our homeowners insurance covered a lot of it, but some things just can't be replaced. Good luck with the clean up.Jodi wrote: ↑September 6th, 2021, 2:30 pmJust getting back into rowing after recovery from hand surgery and Tropical Storm Ida decides to dump 8.5 inches of water into our basement apartment! Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I found my logon for the logbook and learned a few things:
1. I've been back for a month now (yay, and I can survive 30 minute sessions pretty reliably now)
2. I ranked my 30 minute row, and discovered I was below average, so today I went harder to beat the average for my age/weight/sex. With the average being 6968M, I was excited to get 7010 meters. I proudly ranked it, then looked at the 'fine print' and noticed that while I'm now technically above average, I have not beat the 50th percentile so I still sit deeply inside the second half of the rankings.
So now my next target is 7047M in 30 minutes, which supposedly gets me into the 50th percentile. But looking at the list it seems I need to go past 7070M to have a ranking in the top half of the list.
Yay for goals
And yes, I did sign up for the Fall Challenge too.
PS: I'm intrigued by the Ski Erg. That seems like it would be a nice complement for the rower. I'm worried though that due to my accessory bone and the fact that just standing hurts after not so long periods of time, I might not be cut out for using it. Do meters on a Ski Erg (or Bike Erg for that matter) count in our lists here?

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Yes, ski and bike erg meters count. If it is a Challenge, you have to do twice as many bike erg meters to equal one ski erg or row erg meter though!

Re: Team Progress Thru 9.10.21
Thanks, it is good to be back! Not a mooner, that was over a few days... I've started working my way back into erging following a long period of inactivity due to hip pain.An MRI has shown acute osteoarthritis. My physio had given me a whole series of exercises to try and avoid surgery (but had recommended staying off the erg), but there was no improvement. I got lzy and stopped the exercises and strangely started to feel better, so I tried a row and felt better still. Maybe I can row myself out of this one?
Belated congratulations on 10,000 posts K2!

You put put so much into making sure the Luna-tics team is great to be part of, you deserve much more than the title of "Marathon poster" for an average of just over 2 posts a day for nearly 14 years!
RE: 10000 posts
Seems like December something is the 14th anniversary of forum-ness for me....! Thanks for your kind words - if no one posted meters, there wouldn't be a lot of summary postings!

Something different:
A long time project here has been the disposition of a 1950 Plymouth convertible that my father-in-law thought was a good thing to keep. A retired mechanic, he left it on the property when we bought it so he could move to a lower elevation (and keep it in the family). Despite putting new tarps on to cover it each winter, these things didn't really hold up. This Spring's discovery of a decomposing fox inside the vehicle was impetus to get the thing out of here. Car restoration is not an inexpensive hobby, and none of the extended family wanted to tackle the project. Even moving the vehicle was going to be a project! One of the good outcomes of family reunions and memorial services is that you get to connect up with family members you don't see as often, and can find that they not only have the kind of truck you're going to need for a project, they actually think this might be a fun gig. And so it was that while fighter jets flew in formation over the mountain lake in commemoration of 9/11 (impressive!), we were making progress. One of the cousins brought his big truck with front and back winches, a trailer, AND inflated tires to put on for the trip. It took about an hour to load the car onto the flatbed, and then he drove it down the Pass without incident.
