Lovely to see...! Janet and I love photographing birds and is one of the most enjoyable things we get to do on trips Out and About in Australia. What truly amazes us is that many birds migrate thousand's of kilometres each year to our coastline, some from as far away as Alaska...!
The harbour city is now out of lockdown and we are free to travel again, and we are packed ready to head out the front-gate, but heavy rains are forecast for the week ahead - so it seems we'll need to wait another week to head-off. So back on the Erg and the water to put some more metres on the board this week...
All the best to team Luna-tics...! Cheers, Baz

This skull has been hanging inside the screened porch here in Tucson for at least 50 years. Kind of reminds me of a bovine version of a certain painting tho....!!
Good luck with the time change today! Some have called it the season of Doom and Gloom with the after work daylight just disappearing into darkness. I like to think that as we approach Dec 21, we're getting closer to working our way back to summmmrrr! But. The time change does mess with our erg schedules a bit. (And whoever heard of a city owned rec center that decides to close its center on the weekends?! I'm sure this is not new for many, but does seem like it limits opportunity!)

Get ready! Reindeer season is approaching!
S
ome Lunies are already starting to build their meters...and many will have noted that this Holiday Challenge (if I've counted correctly) is a 30 day opportunity. 30 days should give everyone a good chance at earning their charity $$, holiday challenge pins AND their reindeer! Whoop, whoop! I encourage all the Lunies to start building their meters prior to the actual start!
But. Back to reindeer for a minute. My reindeer is usually named Buttercup, because you know - sometimes you just have to get those meters done, Buttercup. I now realize that some tasks or to do's on a list that fall into the Buttercup category...because you just have to slog through them and get them done. Got caught in a couple of those tasks yesterday, and they just sucked the air out of the day.
From yesterday:

Getting ready....also means choosing which charity your meters will support! Take a few minutes to click on the Concept2 chosen organizations, read up about them, and select one (or allow Concept2 to designate for you!). It's an important detail that you can cross off the list!
Holiday Challenge
November 25–December 24
Row, ski or ride as much as you can between American Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. We have honorboards and downloadable certificates for everybody who reaches 50k (adaptive and kids only), 100k and 200k.
For every person who does at least 100k during the challenge (50k for adaptive athletes or athletes aged 16 or under), Concept2 will donate $.02 per kilometer (1000 meters) to your choice of the following organizations: The Pocock “A Most Beautiful Thing” Inclusion Fund, The Vaccine Alliance, Clima Fund, Right To Play or Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. And once you get beyond 100k, we'll donate $.04 per kilometer. Anybody who reaches 200k and has chosen to give money to charity will receive a free Holiday Challenge pin.
Note: BikeErg meters count for half the distance when applied to the challenge...so Orwellian and bike ergers know it to be true, too.!

When golf league ends in late October, there is a small (but hearty!) group of gals that plays what I call "Dead of Winter" golf. It's an opportunity to go to some different courses, and play for off season rates when the temperature is at least 50 (we have our limits). Well, DOW golf is in session and since I'm out in Tucson, I missed this particular gem of an event. Mariana Butte golf course is a gem, particularly in fall. It has a lot of cottonwoods, and many changing colors. And it has wildlife. Every golf course seems to have its own wildlife. And sometimes cows. This course has elk, and elk cows.
This is hole 5 on the Mariana Butte golf course in Loveland, CO. As you can see, elk have taken over the hole - in fact, they even took over the roped off green. Elk don't pay a whole lot of attention to things being roped off, and I'm sure the greenskeeper was not a happy person! The DOW golfers had to be escorted around hole 5 to continue their round, because there were approximately 200 elk in the herd! This is just a small portion of the many, MANY. Cleanup on the fairway! Fun stuff!

Just when you think it's too cold for flowers....the pansies arrive! Not sure they would survive long in Colorado, but you never know! Each year, there are some survivors that pop up. Planted three pots full of these for Mom. Throw in a geranium for some different color!
