I thought I had to change the pictures because they have a model b in them instead of a model d.

I'm back again for the January 2010 virtual challenge. Seems like each year I have an injury of some sort and this year (2009) is no different. I'm just recovering from hand surgery last week and should be ready to go on January 1. Not sure if I'm still listed as a "Lunatic" or not.

If not, what do I do to join up again? Thanks - Tom

Team membership

Post by Kona2 » December 16th, 2009, 11:59 pm

Hey Tom - yep, you're still a Luna-Tic unless you've opted out. You will show up on the team roster as soon as you input some meters. Sounds like you'll be ready to do that soon! Take good care as you start out - just row what you can and what you want to row.

Everyone still needs to go to the teams section and indicate that you want to participate in the January Virtual Team Challenge. There will be a link there for you to opt in.

Welcome back!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.16.09

Post by Kona2 » December 17th, 2009, 2:46 pm

While Wiki is one of my favorite knowledge bases, I went to History.com for Saturnalia....I didn't even know there was a god of agriculture .... what an interesting pathway to start the day, Moose! Of course, this is not the first time that you have acquainted some of us with some lesser known historical figures....I am reminded of the grasshopper fellow...the one who drove the grasshoppers out of Finland...Image...but I digress.

Saturnalia: Image
In Rome, where winters were not as harsh as those in the far north, Saturnalia—a holiday in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture—was celebrated. Beginning in the week leading up to the winter solstice and continuing for a full month, Saturnalia was a hedonistic time, when food and drink were plentiful and the normal Roman social order was turned upside down. For a month, slaves would become masters. Peasants were in command of the city. Business and schools were closed so that everyone could join in the fun.

Steve's meters puts us within sticking distance of the ancient ones. All someone need to do is a 24 hour row - or 24 of us row an extra hour.
I will try to inspire my young ones .

Karyn She's 12th on the roster!
I was one too early -- 13 is my lucky number. I thought I might be the 13th Looney to make it onto the 200k board. Either way, I'm glad I'm there.
