Hello all, new guy here.
Been lurking for a while, though not in Team moto, but just
on the forum in general trying to gather as much info as possible.
I race motocross in NY in the B class, +25B & +30B.
My friend purchased a model B off Craigslist a few months
ago for $240, I used it about 6x and fell in love. I finally
found my killer deal on Craigslist as well, a mint model C for $200.
I've been training on the stationary bike most of the winter, so
I felt the need to test my time for the 500M and have done
1min 39sec twice. Haven't tried a 2K yet, but that will be next.
Somehow I managed to hurt my knee  by doing a 45 min
row keeping my heart at 145bpm the 1st night I purchased it.
Felt fine that night, but next morning it felt "loose" and didn't like
normal twisting motions or hamstring stretching. Took a couple
days off, felt slightly better and then did 10min warm up (no knee
pain while in use) and 4 - 500M rows with 2 min. break inbetween each.
Knee felt fine, but next morning, same deal. So I've iced and that
helps, going to take a week or two off now. Sux.
I want to say my form is great since I've been studying it
religously on this site. I've never had
a problem with this knee. I think I may have been allowing
my shins to go past 'vertical' position. On the model B, I wouldn't
allow my heels to lift off the crude wooden platforms, but this
model C seems to encourage lifting your heels, with the way
the heel straps lift with you...

My drag factors are 100 @ 0, 150 @ 5, and 225 @ 10.
I've been using 6. Maybe I should back it down to 4 or 3?

I could only max my heart out at 178 during the 500M rows.
According to the 220 formula I should be around 190?
Just started using a heart rate monitor this winter for training, so
I haven't got to use it during a moto yet, but I can't wait to!
I'm real curious to see.

Sorry I ramble, bottom line, I love my C2 and can't
wait to get back on it!

Welcome riel!
I think you're right about lessening your drag. Try around 120-130. I like 120 but the stronger guys seem to be able to handle more than that.
1:39 is a pretty good 500 time, let's see what you can hold for 2k!

Easy, tiger. I wasn't meaning we should mate!

But Steve, I have to tell you I laughed right off my chair at the Wonder Twins! That was just hilarious

So are any of you going to do a marathon or half before April 30th?

Yes, I did a bunch of halfs, back in January.

Finally got to use my monitor on the track.

Highest I could get my heart was 178bpm during 500m
sprints. Feel like I'm going to die/pass out when done.

I wore my monitor for the first time on my bike a few days ago.
4 laps, 10+min, my AVERAGE heart rate was 182bpm.
This blows my mind! It wasn't even a race, I was practicing alone.
Unfortunately I have the Polar FS1 and it does tell me my Max though.
Anyone find similar results on the track?

Hadn't planned on doing it but I did another 2k TT (time trial) this morning. Shaved 4 seconds off my previous best. Nobody around here cares  but I knew I could get some love from Team MOTO.

Here's what my wattage looks like for all 3 TTs:

End of this year? Beginning of next? Never? :D To reach the 7-minute mark I have to be able to hit my 500m splits in 1:45 and my 1000m in 3:30. My best 500m sprint time to date is 1:38 and there is absolutely no way I can hold that speed for another 1500m.

Looks like I am going to have to "up" the intensity of my training as my intervals aren't even done that fast at this point. I do think 7:20 could go down in the next month or two, though. I already have the requisite speed over 500m I just need to train my 1000m intervals a little faster.

I know I'll never go under 7 minutes. I'm just trying to stay under 8 minutes.
