I've had a couple rough days of the stomach flu. Missed a Super Bowl party with my family but very excited to see my Chiefs win! I'm catching up with what I've missed on here over the past few days. Congrats to all on the battles you've all won on this great journey we're all on called life.

Another good day for indoor erging...temperature readouts here have a minus in front of them  ...

We had an uptick in our team meters (after a couple of days of post-Challenge "rest") yesterday. We are on the brink of a big milestone....ONE HUNDRED MILLION team meters. A really good day today could push us over the line, but tomorrow more likely. Good stuff!

I would have to look at the Lunie Chronicles- but it’s way more than 100 million.

Struggling to get a row in today due to a late night in the city for a yoga class.
Is anyone else participating in the Military Challenge? I'm affiliated with the Air Force and it looks like the smart branch of the military is hanging steady in 3rd place so far.

Update:

Ok. The 2012 season (ending 4.30.11) was our best so far. We had 203,752,749 m and 178 team members.

I'm participating in the USMC side. Yeah, not the most scholarly group. I did my part to break the stereotype by earning a masters in economics and working as an actuarial analyst for about 9 years. Most jarheads tend to be a bit more street smart than book smart.

Delighted that the Luniverse came together to get us over the 100 million milestone line yesterday! It was a great surprise.

Equally, it was a good exercise to look back at the Lunie Chronicles and see what we've done in the past for annual meter totals. There was a stretch between seasons 2012-2014 where we were in the top 3-5 meter producing teams. We had the same number of teammates that we have right now for at least one of those years. We had many teammates who were producing 8-10 million meters a year. And everyone pretty much rowed because I don't think the ski erg was invented yet. Does that sound like DINOSAUR? Why yes. Now I am more likely to believe in good exercise, but don't be manic about it. There is a lot to life, and erging surely plays a big role for all of us...but it is a tool to help us enjoy other aspects of life as well. At least that's how I think about it.

LOL! It did K2... easiest 5k of my life

I was still consciously trying to keep myself away from the erg for a bit and focus on some other things. But building up so many meters over a month really ingrains a habit into you. I didnt have a choice in the matter - there was some idle time and my brain just made me do it.

So, I got the skierg a month ago. After that first workout, I thought I made a thousand dollar mistake. OMG, I thought my heart would explode. The next day, I discovered doing intervals of 250 meters then resting for 20-30 seconds for 2000 meter workouts. I thought it will take years if ever to build up a million meters this way. Then, I bumped up to 500 meter intervals for 2500 and then 5000 meter workouts. Next thing you know, I could do 2500 meters without a break. Now, I'm busting out 10ks like its a warmup. I'm thinking back and trying to figure out where the miraculous improvement came from. Some of it was improvement in form and a better expectation about what the right pace is for me. Most of it was just an improvement in strength and stamina of those muscles in a short amount of time. Last night, I noticed these muscles in my armpit area that weren't there a month ago. All of this is just to say, I'm very glad I got the skierg and didn't give up immediately. Hope this helps someone who is thinking about buying one or got one and gave up too quickly.
