Global Marathon Challenge

Post by Big Chris » April 19th, 2009, 9:28 am

Who is trying to meet this challenge?

I completed a 1/2 marathon yesterday. It was the longest distance I have rowed in one sitting.

The last 5000m were the worst my back and butt were killing me. That seat is not made for over an hour of rowing.

Anyway now that I did it I can say I am glad I did but I don't see a full marathon in my future.

The seat pad available from C2 helps a great deal and it is quite cheap. For the really long items, like a marathon, Xeno recommended using two small folded towels, one under each side with space in between for cooling. I used that technique for 2 marathons and it worked well. For the second one, I also did a lot of long rows, gradually increasing my time to get used to such long rows. This helped to learn to tolerate both the butt pain and the thirst.
