Thanks Michael. I have been told a number of times that an 18:30 5K is a pretty good sub 7 2K indicator. I am pretty certain I will get both , although in which order I don't know. Tonight was quite pleasing of the back of a 84 min, steady HM last night. My main short-term targets are a good 60' and a FM. I expect to beat every one of my PBs above 5k in the next few weeks, barring maybe the 10K which has set new standards for me. In fact now that I have put that into print it will form a definite plan .
No RowPro yet. I am away all week and could not use it then so it seems a bit expensive for just weekends when I am pretty busy anyway.

Thanks Ben, I am back again tonight

Anyone reading my diary last night would have seen me say that I intend attacking all my PBs from 5K upwards in the next 2-3 weeks.

After a HM on Monday and a 5K PB last night by 8 seconds, like a nutter I went for a 60' PB. Previous best was 15464 (1:56.3) so I got to 20' in 1:55.4, 40' in 1:55.5 and finished in 1:55.6 for a new pb of 15577 which is an improve by 113 metres. If I say so myself 113m is quite a lot so I am pretty damm chuffed. 60' 15577 27spm AHR 150 MHR 156

A 2k PB. Always the most painful distance, no?

6:41.1, aiming for 6:40.8 (the top 10%). Final push started at 200m out, which is a bit lazy. Was averaging 1:40.2 for the first 1k, so quite an even race.

Must do another!

I completed my first million today also. Time today for 10000 was 44.20.3, (3 seconds longer than my 10000m PB). It may seem strange, but I don't seem to be comfortable with a lower drag factor. My splits are lower when I move the damper up to 8. I tried it at 5 for the last 2 months, and I believe it helped me concentrate on form. But I like the 'feel' of the higher drag. Does this make any sense? (I am 51, female heavyweight). Thanks for any and all suggestions/references. What a great forum.

Thanks to all of you.

My medium term aim is to beat a certain gentleman called Darryl Easton, whose Nov 05 times (2k: 6:40.8, 5k 17:31ish, h/m 1:19:51) are a reachable peak. He was rowing next to me yesterday, puffing along to a 6:55 owing to protracted illness and a broken foot.

I honestly didn't mean to run it over with a truck, these things just happen.

Anyway, that is why the PB is tinged with regret - a little more effort . . . The 5K is still a good 10 secs away, and I reckon the h/m, being a full minute ahead, and not exactly a distance one can sample regularly (need a day pass from she who must be obeyed), is a long shot too.

Thanks for the encouragement

G

They make them nasty in South London. I am also planning a nasty accident involving an ergometer, a kilo of butter, and an anvil
