Interactive Program
Interactive Program
I'm do the interactive program from the uk site, 6 days a week. I just did session 4 in week one and its just a repeat of session 1. Each week the sessions 4-6 and just a repeat of session 1-3 that week. I'm wondering about filling session 4-6, so the week works more like a pyramid or moving up a training band. I just don't feel like I got as good a workout today as I was getting the past couple days. Thoughts?
Re: Interactive Program
That's characteristic of the program that targets weightloss; as it's for those who have done very little exercise, presumably the repetition also targets technique and long distance basic training. Both very important if you want to get fit enough to do enough work to actually lose some weight.
A "good" workout will need you to work at around 2W/kg minimum, according to age and sex, always under HR control. This depends on you, not on the program.
If you want more variety, use the 2k programs, where session 1 week 1 is a 2k test.

@bokaj: I'm thinking about your question from two directions. First, if you want more variety, I think you should feel free to substitute any kind of workout you want as long as it is roughly the same in terms of intensity as the one it is replacing. I think it is also OK if you want to go longer. The thing that you should try to avoid is going all out (>80% MaxHR) every time you workout. You'll burnout.
It's also OK to change the program you are using if you want more challenge. As James suggests the 2K program on the UK site generates a variety of workouts and is tuned to start at your current fitness level. It ramps more steeply and pushes you harder. You could also try the Beginner's Pete Plan, which is also race training. You might want to put a couple weeks into the current program to if you still want more challenge. Sometimes it is a lot easier to start at high intensity than to sustain that level of effort over the long run when life intrudes.

Re: Interactive Program
Previous days I've had more of the "oh dear god would can I keep going" for the last minute or 2. While today I never felt pushed, if was fairly easy. I think i will probably rework some parts.
