Solid point. I think the reason the Pete Plan becomes too tough after a while is it throws everything and the *** DELETE - SPAM *** sink at you all at once - speed intervals, threshold intervals, hard distance pieces. And each one has to be a PB of sorts so many times they all end up TR/AN efforts.

OK - little bit confused now
80/20
Threshold
Clue please?

And when you say 1minute rowing, 1 minute rest etc, does rest mean stop or carry on very gentle rowing in between periods while recovering?

Thanks

Steve

Indeed, do a session at 95% and its ok, give those last 5% and you kill yourself in a few sessions.

The plan is a sharpening plan, after 2/3 rounds your done. Not suited for longer work

80/20 means, on every 5 sessions, 1 speed session, 4 aerobic longer ones.

Threshold, the border you are just able to carry on.

You also row the rest period at a slower pace. Some have said to do the rest at 50% (I think) of the "on" portion, but I am not fit enough for that for all 10 of them and to also get a pace I want on the "on" portion! But adjustments can be made. The last time I did it, I think I was 1:43-1:44 or so on the on and 2:15-2:20 or so on the off. You will be faster.

Hey Vetinry,

Sorry to threadjack. Looks like you and I are around the same weight and aspire to incorporate similar variability into our rowing workouts, and we're both fighting the corporate food and lifestyle (I know many here must). I never rowed in college, and while I've had the C2 for years it hasn't become a routine (nor have any other exercises). I'm turning 43 next month and I owe a healthier self to myself, my kids and even the wife...

We're moving to a new office on Monday and they have a C2 in the gym (we have on at home too), so even less excuses now. I'll be using Ergdata and/or my Garmin Fenix 3hr to track my workouts, but also have Rowpro 4.3. Let me know whether you come up with a plan and/or want a virtual training partner.

I have a 10k mud run at Camp Pendleton coming up in June so I need to get my 101kg self out on the trails too. Full cardiac arrest during the event won be embarrassing to say the least. Lmk.

If anyone else has thoughts or suggestions for virtual partners to keep me honest and motivated I'm all ears.

Thanks!
