SS 10k 46:17 @2:19 23spm. Still trying to get this slow stuff right. I was sweaty, but hardly breathing heavily after this session, so until that heart monitor turns up, I'll assume this one fits the bill. In fact I feel as though I could do an HM at this pace or a little slower. Would be nice to sneak under 100min B) .

Been working hard, just not posting up a lot. 10K on Sunday (broken up into two 5K sessions @ 2:08)

Monday - 8K plus 15 minutes on the AirDyne. Slower on the rower. Around 2:11

Today - 7500K on the rower around 2:10/2:11 and 25 minutes on the AirBike.

On a side note, I was planning on moving to Tucson in the Spring/Summer of next year to an Active Adult Community. My stepson might move in for a while with us, changing our plans to Phoenix (as he can't live with us in a 55 and over community), which has a large OTW rowing club. I might be taking up OTW next year. My wife thinks we're still too young, also, to live in a 55 and over community.

30, r20 session strapless. The recent strapless discussion encouraged me to give this one a go. Amazing to me when I row strapless. One of my better 30, r20 sessions at 2:10. Shows me I must be doing something inefficient when strapped in.

500m Time Trial

Time................1:30.9
SPM.................44
DF...................145

Ouch!...500m for the Lightweights monthly challenge and the Nonathlon.

It came as a bit of a shock as I'm no sprinter and not exactly ''sharp'' at the moment...and boy oh boy was that last 100 an ordeal!

I'll try again soon as I'm sure I can beat it.

@Rod - be nice to get into the 1:29s? Think I'll have a crack at the 500m as my one and only attempt was 1:32.1 IIRC wich I ought to be able to beat. :D

Same here - only posting up the more important sessions. Well....you're working out plenty Mike so that suggests maybe you're quite young for your age? I guess it depends of what the community is like?

Second proper go at a 500m and trimmed 3.1s off my soft PB above. As per Rod, tied up badly in the last 1/3 of the effort - v v different to a max 1 min effort in that there was alot more lactic acid. Felt harder. Didn't feel esp great so will have another go soon as need to get into the 1:28s...think 1:27 should be possible and would be v pleased with that.

Since you were to modest to mention it ... That puts you 8th in the world ranking list. Nice work!

I tend to just look at LWTs unfiltered on age - I think I'm in denial about being 46.

Boring alert! - you don't have to read all this
The Pan Pacific masters games is every 2 years on the Gold Coast in Queensland - 10 days 50 sports and about 16,000 competitors.
2 days of indoor rowing Wed and Thursday and about 150+ racing from 35y to 93yo. Well organised and a lot of fun - anyone looking for a holiday diversion should think about it! Some good performances and quite a few newbies.
Fastest guy was 35 and new to the "game" but 6:20/2:58/1:19 was pretty impressive.
Day 1 was 2k and 500m and day 2 was 100m/1k/1min and a 4x500 relay for a fun finish.
Paul Jeffrey (55y) did the sprints and he is strong! 500 @1:19 but then 14.4 for the 100m @1:11 and 401m in a minute are world class especially with a race start. A 75+ guy did 341m which I thought was pretty special and some strong women in the 40s group. Lyndsay Knight from NZ is a 70+ lwt near the top of world rankings and he is very good too.
93yo Vincent Home is just amazing - did all the races and is legally blind and deaf as well.
There are results and replays here: https://mastersgames.com.au/ppmg/sports/indoor-rowing/

My erg buddy Peter Beare has worked out he may be able to beat me if he doesn't do the 2k and 1k - we have raced at least 20x over the last 6+years and have a good rivalry. For me - I went with no taper and just wanted to match what I did 10 days ago at ARIC with 7 serious sessions under my belt since then.
Wed
2k @6:59.2
500 @1:31.9 (dead heat with Peter)
Thursday
100m = 17.3 @1:26.3
1000m = 3:21.6 @1:40.8
1 minute = 342m @1:27.6 (Peter 343m!)
did a leg of 500m in a mixed relay team

Now just have to get my act together for London - keen to go a fair bit faster on Dec8 without all the distractions but still work to do.

Reassuring - No I haven't forgotten how to read, yet... There were a couple of sliders above Paul that Rod kicked out.

Does using sliders make a big difference?

He's still 3.5 seconds ahead of me over 2k Jim so quite a gap.

I'm in regular facebook contact with him (and most of the other top 60-69 Lwt's) and he's not mentioned coming to the British champs but says he's hoping to go to Long Beach for the worlds....so still a fair bit of time for me to try and sharpen up to his kind of 2k pace!

There's a fast Italian by the name of Emanuele Romoli who usually does the British event and won it last year as well as getting the gold at Boston so could be interesting if he shows up.
