male rowing program block D1

Post by khaldrogo » March 2nd, 2021, 11:40 pm

Hello,
I have a little question I want to answer
What 2K does a D1 male rowing athlete normally have?
I know there are a lot of variables here, it's just playing time.
Thanks for all sharing!

Based on a quick look at the C2 Logbook rankings I'd say ~6:30 for the faster ones.

6:30 for a lightweight maybe! I would say if you want to be looked at as a heavyweight you need to be under 6:20. 6:10 for a lot of interest.

D1 stands for Division 1, they are the highest level of intercollegiate athletics in the USA overseen by the NCAA.

There's no such thing as D1 men's rowing. Men's rowing, for starters, is not an NCAA sport and operates outside the NCAA system. There are varsity programs, but they are not D1. The IRA and some other conferences try to mirror the NCAA because they've sought NCAA inclusion for some time (which is not going to happen), but operate totally outside of that system.

Anyway, for the top men's rowing programs, you're seeing recruits in the <6:10 range and faster (UW, Cal, top Ivies, etc). The rest of the IRA field is probably <6:20 and other smaller varsity programs probably round out with recruits under 6:30 for HWs. For LWs it's a different story.
PBs: 2k 6:09.0 (2020), 6k 19:38.9 (2020), 10k 33:55.5 (2019), 60' 17,014m (2018), HM 1:13:27.5 (2019)

Old PBs: LP 1:09.9 (~2010), 100m 16.1 (~2010), 500m 1:26.7 (~2010), 1k 3:07.0 (~2010)
