Another one of these 3x3000m/2:00r row. Did the exact same workout yesterday, but in comparison this one was pretty easy and slightly faster.

Base work yesterday, should have been 4x but was spent and HR was way too high for this work (circa 90%) so decided rest was best.

Today was my normal interval session on Wednesdays - nothing too exciting though I think it is as fast as I have done this one (8x500 2'R). Posting as I rarely wear my HR monitor during intervals but did today - it got to 98% of max:

did you approach it as 'sub 1.36' for all of them, or sth?

do you manage to stay on the machine during the break? (I generally lie on the floor with my legs elevated)

how much does your heart rate drop during the rest?

My best mate is staying with us for another week to 10 days, so I needed to find an alternative rowing option.

I rejoined PureGym and quickly remembered why I got my own erg: drag factor and air con were the only good points about it. Monorail had more black marks than an F1 starting grid, clutch slipped three times, chain was grinding and clunking for most of it, and my music changed 12 times as I assume there was interference with someone else's Bluetooth.

I ended up going faster than intended just to get it done quicker. A small weights session afterwards was enjoyable though, and I have been neglecting that in recent months.

was supposed to be a 50 min UT2 row today but my wife interrupted me at the 10 min mark with something 'urgent' and so I adapted.

4x10mins 3 mins rest

10006m 1.59.9 22

no warm up, so the standard negative split.

Still getting some complete nonsense from my PM5. Generally it calms down after about 5 minutes, but it's pretty annoying. Among today's highlights were 2:25 at 1spm and 1:46 at 199spm (sorry James).

Anyway:

Yesterday:
10k in approx 42:21, 2:07, rate 18

Today:
1977m at approx 2:07, rate 18 (interrupted by boy and dog)
then
5k in approx 20:36, rate 20ish.

Great questions:

Yes, my goal was to try and do all of them just under 1:36 and maybe faster for last one but the time was all I had in me for last one. In general this was an all out effort towards the end.

I usually stay on the machine for the break, I feel I use up energy if I get on and off. So typically just sit there and gather my breathe and maybe a sip of water.

My HR dropped pretty good on the first few interval rest (like 100-120) but as it I got further into it the drop was like down to 120s for a couple , 130s for a couple and 140s for the end.
