I think I paced this about right for today. I almost HDed twice, I felt a bit sick and I briefly lost my appetite afterwards, which is very unusual.

You seem to be on good form Stu, both the 30 min and 12 mins are real good pieces :) Any PB attempts coming up soon? Surely that 8500 must bug you, should be well within your reach on a good day.

Very non-eventful row for me yesterday. I am in my 6th consecutive 60k week(trying to get back to some kind of form), so just getting in the meters yesterday:
1:19:57.1 20,000m 1:59.9 203 998 24
10:12.8 2,500m 2:02.5 190 954 24
9:59.8 5,000m 1:59.9 203 997 24
9:57.7 7,500m 1:59.5 205 1005 24
9:55.6 10,000m 1:59.1 207 1012 25
9:55.1 12,500m 1:59.0 208 1014 25
9:57.2 15,000m 1:59.4 205 1006 25
9:58.7 17,500m 1:59.7 204 1001 24
10:00.1 20,000m 2:00.0 202 996 24

Nice and easy netflix-and-row session, watching one of the 911-series.

Today will be a rest day, need some of those too. Have been feeling a slight wrist tendonitis, reckon it is due to sometimes bending my wrist at the finish of the stroke, and also due to increased mileage.

Tomorrow or Friday will be another power hour. I use this as my bi-weekly test of fitness to see if I am progressing. 20th of May this year I did a 16633 on very low mileage. After we got back from vacation in start of August, I have done this two times:
16th of August: 16235 meters(1:50.8 avg)
31st of August: 16477 meters(1:49.2 avg)
Hoping to get back above 16500(1:49.0 avg) soon. Still a long way from 1:46.8 avg which was done 13th of January. But we are now coming into "my" season, which is autumn, winter and early spring. Will be exiting to see what can be done this season :)

Still training, but rowing and skiing not on the cards yet.

Yesterday:
30' stairmaster 201W , AHR 141
30' bike 111W, AHR 143

Today:
Deadlifts 80kg 5x5
KB Swings 24kg 5x12
Tried some KB front squats, but the rack position irritated my shoulder.
Hip thrust m/c 40kg 2x10.
50 HWT
PBs:
Rower 1'=329m; 500m=1:34.0; 1k=3:25:1; 2k=7:16.5; 5k=19:44; 6k=23:24; 30'=7582m; 10k=40.28; 60'=14621m; HM=1:27:46

Thanks Jo Andre, I'm still eyeing up a 8500+ 30 min and a 60 mins PB, but we'll see if a 2k might be worth trying too as I'm fairly sure I could beat that too.

You're defo heading towards your part of the training season.

The rain is supposed to start here in Oregon this weekend... so I can feel less guilty about sitting in the garage on the rower. As it is sunny right now however, I am mostly just running. Yesterday I did my 84th Lake Loop 10km of the year.

That is not too bad since the goal was to do 100 in the calendar year. I am on pace for about 120 if I keep going. I might stop doing so many running miles and row more once I hit #100.

Great effort over an unfamiliar distance/time, especially considering all the longer pieces you’ve done over the last few weeks. Great work!

84 10ks so far this year is impressive! What kind of weekly mileage do you average throughout the year? What are your preferred race distances?

Thanks! But at my slow pace, Lake Loop 10kms are nothing to write home about.

I think my current mileage (just running) is just under 50km a week. Last year, I did just over 2020 miles (sort of a fun personal goal) but that was before I bought a Concept2! Now that I have "erg days" to factor in, I am only on target to run about 1500 miles (2400km) for 2021.

I just looked it up on my Garmin... 1,177.73 mi is my current total over the course of about 200 runs so far this year (so basically 6 miles per run). And the only reason I track the "Lake Loops" separately is because that route is my traditional "hometown race" (which was canceled due to Covid). Going out for a 6-7 mile run is nothing special but this particular route is just so #%$@ hilly!

As for racing, I just don't really have the top-end speed. Here in Oregon (with Nike, Adidas North America, and a big university presence), the running scene is just so competitive that I can usually satisfy my need to race by just letting friends and former teammates drag me around the track. For example, my best half-marathon last year was a 1:23, but that was a "fun run" with a group of about 20 friends and local masters runners. As far as I can remember, I finished ahead of only two of them... So as you can see, I can find plenty of competition and don't even have to pay a race entry fee!

Ironically, the sport I am worst at, rowing, is the one where I would most like to compete... too bad there aren't more indoor rowing comps! I loved the ones I have done in the past.

P.S. I did another Lake Loop run today. #85 for the year. :)
