Ok, let me try another 4x800m tomorrow and see if I can do better. 130W at 22spm was no joke man but let me see if I can do better by upping the rating to higher and see what happens.
I "think" I'm being limited by my muscular capabilities, as you noticed my HR wasn't super high in this last 4x800m, yet it was hard to push harder.

Strength will limit your ability to generate a pace at reduced rating, but rating will be limited by CV fitness / breathing. I have read threshold as described as the point at which you want to stop! As this is the top of 3 of 5 bands, it demonstrates that we can push through our bodies inclinations. I actually find that achieving a given HR gets harder as I get fitter, so I hit 95% HRMax fairly easily when I haven't rowed for some time, but have to work hard to get it up there when I have been rowing for a while. I reckon i can manage about 15 min at 95%+ HR despite it all being hard work. Short intervals need you to focus on the intervals one at a time. Slowly increasing the pace helps to demonstrate what you can achieve and so gives you the confidence to push through further next time. You will want to stop, but focus on the limited amount left and keep going even if you have to slow a bit. If you have to slow start the next interval at the average for the last (projected finish equal to actual time achieved). Then try and speed up a little for the last min.
