Groin Pull

Post by esj37075 » February 16th, 2007, 2:11 pm

I hope someone can give me some advice, I am an injured runner who has fell in love with the erg. I am having trouble whith learning how to start the drive phase. I have the foot height set at 3 holes showing, this puts my ankles in line with the top of the rail, GOOD??? My problem is do I force my heels down or push from the balls of my feet. I do not bring my shins past vertical and my heels do come up. Also are my elbows supposed to stay close to my side or point out during the drive phase. Thanks in advance to all replies, Eric

the strap that holds the feet should come right over the balls of your feet(between the beginning of your toes and the bottom of the lacing on your shoes), that should help determine if the foot stretcher is set right. at the catch(beginning of the drive), you can roll up on the balls of your feet, thats alright, but you really want to get your heels down as soon as possible in the drive and push off the heels as much as possible. as for the arms, where your elbows are located depends on what part of the drive your on. at the catch you want your arms fully extended and elbows locked. if your talking at the finish(when your legs are fully extended) then your elbows should be pointing out, and not down at your side. hope this helps.
