Well done Pieman. 7th is a very respectable placing. You should be proud.

Gold for me, I think 6:43.8. Rowed pretty much r24. We had at least a 15 minute technical delay between warmup and race on account of an unplugged cable somewhere....

Rate 24. Each and every long and strong, Navhaz! And a Steady Eddy performance from Piers. Lot of grunt per lb. Pieman!

Fantastic result Nav, all that careful training was worth it. Proud to know you're a fellow TOC member too

Congrats Piers, great race given your relative lack of sharpness.
Nav, awesome stuff, it's been very inspiring watching your training.
Slightly disappointed with my race, went out too fast and paid the price in the 2nd half as I faded and my sprint failed to materialize, matched exactly my time (6:55.4) from last year which is a bit annoying. Think i got a bit carried away with being in the 2nd in the heat and didn't stick to my plan. So chalk that up the experience but it looks like it's going to be long way to breaking 6:50.

Good to see I'm in good company with my fly and die, Wiggos splits of
01:31.5 (35)
01:33.7 (33)
01:37.2 (30)
01:40.1 (29)
didn't quite match the hype, anybody know what was going on with the pause after a few strokes.

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
He apparently heard the announcer call handles down for a false start in another race, so he stopped at maybe 6 strokes into the race and then restarted....

Quality event with quality people, representing all sides of the rowing community. Worth the trip, IMO.

Congratulations to everyone. 6:43 at age 62 is fierce and I hope no diabetes related
aftereffects. What happened to LeGrand Frommage? Is anyone of you on video?
I had a 20 min race and split was 1:47.8.
I won but it was hard, the competition went out very fast, I was dropped so far that I resigned and just focused on my own race. That was good luck as the pace was very even throughout.
The result was definitely optimal, more is not possible.

Good job, well done, congratulations! At r24 I do about an 8:20 2K. But it occurs to me that you haven't won at the NE2KC since 2010. Now that you are in racing mode, will you be taking another crack at the Sledgehammer on January 14, 2018?

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
Great results! Nav haz, Richard and all the rest. As I'm partial to LWT's, good one Pie Man. Waiting to hear from Rod unless I missed it somewhere. Wiggins? Even allowing for the false start hiccup I have to wonder about his prep and coaching for this event. You would think that with all of the time and effort he would have been able to pace it better. This is a guy who set a WR for an hour on the track, he obviously has the mentality and ability to keep it right on the redline. He did it in short events like the pursuit (4km, around 4min) in the Olympics. Is it that difficult to master pacing on the erg? Regardless, two things are clear; he's nowhere near LWT and he's nowhere near 6:00min even if he rows a perfect race.
