I'm currently battling again my ulcerative colitis. I'm not physically restricted, but my digestion and what follows it are relatively far from healthy.

Nevertheless, and because I'm probably a bit crazy, I tried the 2000m today on a whim. Without a plan and without an idea: 6:59,3

I think I can do a lot better. My heart rate was only 160, probably because I didn't warm up long enough. Then I left at 1:35, which was too fast, and I had to row the second 500m in 2:00 to recover. But my head was still strong enough that I was able to finish under 7:00.

Drag Factor 166, Stroke Rate 30.

Probably not bad for the first attempt after half a year of rowing experience. ?

That's a quite good result! Especially under described circumstances, even if you think it does not restrict you.
Many struggle to get sub 7 for long times if ever :)
I agree, with a much better pacing strategy you could get this down by a few seconds.
You're not my friend who lives in Sankt Johann but still Austrian and obviously... just as focusedly crazy. He used to tell me about how he couldn't wait to get back to Austria so he could ski at Kitzbuhel several times a week. .. specifically hitting 120+kmh on
the Streif in Kitzbühel. Knowing what I know about him...I don't doubt the validity of what he told me. ..I only wish I could share that experience with him (being a lifelong skier).
That's an extreme performance in your 2k(with a total emphasis on killing it and blowing up)...yet getting your #hit back together and sliding under 7... totally Austrian!
All The Best,
John

Also being a lifelong skieer, former downhill racer, former FIS safety manager for Streiff and still frequent visitor of Kitzbuhel, I can tell you: the Streiff race track is closed to the public at all times. The Mausefalle is suicide for people who are not extremely highly trained, and you land on a blue run where people tend to stop. Steilhang is normally closed to the public and actually physically destroyed after the race with pick-axes as it is icy and too steep for consumer equipment to ski. Sometimes it is open as off-piste run, which turns into a buckle-piste in the matter of hours. And rescuing people from the bottom of Steilhang takes ages as it is a rope-rescue from a helicopter. Alte Schneise is closed to the public as it can only be jumped and not skieed, as are the two finish jumps who end in the middle of the Rote Tueffel skischool trainings-gelande.

What remains is the "Familien Streiff": a blue run with some black extensions. Don't know if you can even physically hit 120k there, but I know you shouldn't as it is the home course of the Rote Tueffel: Kitzbühels ski school. Nice run, especially over the black extensions, I usually do it in the morning with the kids (which have become faster then me) if we are too early for lunch. But as a consumer I'm more of a fan of Diretissima as it is steep and tends to fill with powder. Or the Kaser Nord as the powder is always great there.

And if you really want to hit 120+, do it in the early morning from the first gondola up on the normal Kaser. A lot easier and much more comfortable turns as long as you know nobody is in front of you.

That is so cool !
I would have paid an annual subscription to join this forum if only to have your analysis above.
