Main event - mum & kids watch dad turn himself into a quivering lump of jell-o. 2K time – 6:49.6 (32spm; DF =131).
Brilliant. Well done on your SUB-7 row.

My BIRC was 7:23.7 (against a target of 7:24) so I was happy.

It was also a Broken, It-won't Run Car for me so we had a struggle getting home.

BIRC, breakdowns, Meeting Targets and tying ones shoes

Citroen - Thanks for the kind words.

Congrats on beating your target. From what I see on the forums about BIRC), seems like a lot of people were well off their targets. Something about the air or the start sequence ?
Bummer about the car. Hope the fix was not too pricey.

BTW - Best boondoggle I ever went on was to the Hursley lab in the early '90s. A reward for selling CICS-OS/2 licenses.

Full disclosure. Missed my personal target of 6:48 (1:42.0 pace), but learned a lot.

Probably the most useful lesson was that one should tie one's shoes properly before a test piece.

Why ?

It did not make a difference during the piece, but when I flopped on the floor next to the erg, the foot stretchers flexed enough for my feet to stay in the shoes and the shoes to stay strapped in, but the shoes were not on tight enough for me to get them out of the heel cups.

Ended up trapped on the floor - could not get up and could not get feet out of shoes. Took a little while before I could speak clearly enough to ask my dear wife to pop the shoes out of the foot stretchers so I could get up.

Cheers. Patrick.
