Indeed
My wife wasn't amused, but in the end it turned out ok.
Back home right now, had a walk from the hospital to get moving.
Feeling ok, let's see how it goes next days :)

Short interval work today two sets of 400/300/200/100 on 2:00 recovery. I upped the drag factor to 150, I typically erg at 125-130. It might be beneficial for a one off TT at 500m and under, but I wouldn't repeat it again for a session like this. The repetitive nature of it had my stroke feeling quite lazy (can't think of a better way of describing it) by the second round.

Went home from the hospital today. Feeling fine so far, pain is gone. Little bit of rumble from digestive system, as I started eating again yesterday evening after a full 3 day fast with no food except filtered broth, coffee and water.
I expected it to be much harder to eat nothing, but it was really NO PROBLEM at all.

As I haven't moved all these days and already had a rest day on Thursday before that stuff happened, I thought I would try some 10min pieces on the skierg.

Thx mates :)
Sure, will listen to my body.
First I thought of doing the CTC on the skierg, obviously not full effort, but then I soon realized it wouldn't make sense today
Little bit hungry now, but will eat later, when I need to take my antibiotics. Otherwise fine so far with a little fatigue, which was expected.

Finally did some rowing over the weekend - nothing too much but was good to get back on the ERG. My medical issues aren't quite resolved but at least it doesn't appear to be major concerns. So will build back some over next couple weeks and see how it goes.

After a notably brutal hot pilates class yesterday morning, I shouldn't have done this, but I always like to challenge myself. My thoughts are a bit scrambled at the moment, so it was as much of a mental battle (and win) as anything else.

I had a major wobble at 4.8k and then with circa 500m to go, but I managed to get a grip from then on. It was averaging 1:48 at 300m remaining for the last interval.
Great Result and so consistent!

No, it is true. I was not home bc I was buying lumber for the chicken coop. Procrastinated again bc of rowing addiction and so got caught in the storm while driving home (with 16 foot 2x4s protruding alarmingly from my 6 foot pickup bed bc I was too lazy to bring trailer; ironically this is even more "Mississippi"). IDK if it actually hit the clothesline directly - my son was the only witness - but it blew the circuit breakers on that side of the house and the dogs were terrified. But no, our Internet is not directly connected to the clothesline if that is what you were implying how dare you sir.

No specific near-term erg goals, with my main focus the next few months being to become a competent on-water rower again and hopefully make my masters club's 40+ 8+ for the Head of the Charles in October. They've won the event 4 out of the last 5 years and their standard to even be in consideration for the boat the last few years has been a 17:10 5k at 195lbs, weight-adjusted (or faster). Despite having the fastest 5k in the club last fall by a healthy margin, my rowing form was too rough at that time and I didn't make the cut -- a very real example of the old "ergs don't float" adage. There's much technical improvement needed for me to have a shot this year, but I've started back out on the water a few months earlier than I did last year so hopefully have the time for things to click.

In the meantime, as banal as sessions like the below are, they have been the foundation for everything else...

Ha ha, I thought maybe you tried to use your clothesline as a satellite antenna (although it'd be the wrong kind of antenna).

I downsized my last "full sized" truck to something with a 6-6.5 foot bed, and have pondered hauling 12-16 foot lumber in it. I really miss the 4 foot wide and 8 foot long bed of the larger truck, but the truth is that I almost never need it anymore now that I have almost no future construction projects to consider, and it's most likely less expensive for me to have material delivered than pay extra maintenance and insurance for the larger truck. Plus, the smaller truck is so much easier to maneuver and park.
