Boy, don't get to visit the PB page enough. This morning's soreness (yowzers!) prompted the visit. New 1 hour PB on Skierg, 11776m, which bests the previous PR by more than 500m
. Went into the session attempting the PR, no positive splits, 7 of 10 negative splits, HR in low 160's at end. 500m splits went from low 2:39 to high 2:32. Not an earth shattering distance but hard-earned PR for this old lightweight.

Brilliant, simply brilliant. And inspiring. What's your max HR, and to what extent did cardiac drift affect the average in your view (due to heat/dehydration etc)? I'm just trying to get a reference as to what % of your maxHR you were *really* sustaining. Cheers!lwtguy wrote:Hour of Power PB! 16209m (1:51.0)! Killer heart rate average of 185!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
No clue, but I think it's well above 200. Regular UT1 will push me into the 170s/180s and I feel comfortable there. It was fairly humid that day so the HR could've been higher than normal. I was above 180 for the last 50 minutes but I felt fine.Gammmmo wrote:Brilliant, simply brilliant. And inspiring. Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
LOL, yes I remember when my max was 200-203 in my 20s, with cycling. I'd be lucky to max out on 190-192 now, if that. Sooner or later the heart becomes less elastic so your absolute blood shifting ability reduces. Luckily most of us don't ever get that close to maxing everything else out anyway, so there's everything still to play for! Again, super effort...well done.lwtguy wrote:No clue, but I think it's well above 200. Regular UT1 will push me into the 170s/180s and I feel comfortable there. Nice, congrats, long time to be in the hurtlocker, often around 2/3 it really starts to get hard.lwtguy wrote:Hour of Power PB! 16209m (1:51.0)! Killer heart rate average of 185!
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Yes right around there it starts to get pretty tough. The worst part mentally on every single hour piece is 32 minutes in. I don't know why but seeing that 28 minutes to go really gets to me...hjs wrote:Nice, congrats, long time to be in the hurtlocker, often around 2/3 it really starts to get hard.lwtguy wrote:Hour of Power PB! 16209m (1:51.0)!
