1K PB by 2 seconds! Dang it would have been nice to go .2" faster to have a 7 on the end!

Nice going Glenn. 2 secs is a great improvement over 1k

Not sure if I should post it here or attempt to revive the sprint thread...oh well...
Decided to give the one minute sprint a ride last night and managed 365 meters at r42. It was my second attempt besting my previous 357 from a couple of weeks ago. Conditioning was definitely a factor...was pacing high 380's low 390's in the first 20 seconds and struggled to hang on in the last 20 seconds.
Warmed up by doing a fairly easy 10 x 1:00 r26 on 1:00 rest averaging 288m each.

I can't speak for T_M, but when I do shorter distance TTs I don't use a full stroke. For 500m I row at around 3/4 slide and for 100m I probably row around half slide. This allows me to up my rate (36 for 500m and 48 for 100m) and power output a lot. Of course, over longer distances this isn't maintainable (even over 500m I start to lag after about the 1 minute mark).Dangerscouse wrote:r42?!?! I struggle to get any higher than r33

Yeah that makes sense. I always use a full stroke which is something I need to change for the shorter distances.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Depends on what you're training for. I try not to shorten my stroke during an interval session like 8x500m since I'm doing that to train for 2000m where I'd row full strokes. Even for 1000m I probably wouldn't shorten my stroke much, if at all. It's noticeably how much more fatiguing it is even in something like a 500m test.Dangerscouse wrote:Yeah that makes sense. Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Sound. I think it will be a bit of trail and error for me in the new year to have a go at my seven years old 2k PB.
I think it's probably my leg drive that needs more work as I always had issues with a displaced pelvis(sounds a lot worse than it is) from leg training that I have recently realised (circa 12 months) was due to a very tight right hip flexor and now that I have loosened that up I don't need the trip to the chiro every 3 months anymore so I can use my legs more without fear of consequences...well, without as much fear anyway

Yes, last 3 strokes were around 1:07/1:08 so possibly another couple of tenths to gain at my current level.

I'm sorry, 1:07 to 1:08? Really? Crap. I have never, ever, seen anything less that 1:27. I guess I'll get on those deadlifts.
Really nice job.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I managed to knock off 10 mins off my 75km PB. It's now 5:29:15 and was 5:39:42.
I guess I have set an 85km PB too, which was 6:23:15 (not got.to 85km before) but it should have been a 100km distance so it's a bit of a frustration. 'Dr Google' is telling me it's exercise induced asthma due to the Air con at the gym being too cold and me rowing too far, which leaves me with a tight chest and wheezy breathing. Going to the doctors on Monday morning
