Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
I have pumped up my foundational rowing from Elvis' "Steamroller" at 22 spm to Big & Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" at 26 spm.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt0_oPPK6eA
I just put my iPod touch on an infinite loop through the song--and row.
The song keeps my catches and finishes right on the rate.
26 spm is pretty much "base pace," top end UT1.
When I rate 26 spm, I now do 1:40-1:42 (12.5-13.5 SPI)
At 119 df. and 13 SPI, given my short little lightweight legs, my ratio at 26 spm is still _huge_: 3.6-to-1.
.5 seconds for the drive, 1.8 seconds for the recovery.
Relaxing stuff.
I have always thought that a great accomplishment would be 60min @ 26 spm, rowing well (13 SPI) at low drag (119 df.).
I think I might get there this winter.
PaulS has his rowers do 1:55 @ 26 spm (9 SPI, 10 MPS).
Go figure.
Why train yourself to row badly?

I assume you have 3-5 minutes between the replays ... just to keep you HR in check.ranger wrote:I have pumped up my foundational rowing from Elvis' "Steamroller" at 22 spm to Big & Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" at 26 spm.

No, my brother and I own it, although it is just in the process of being transferred to us, as my mother's estate is settled. My mother died last April. The estate is supposed to be settled by this April.mrfit wrote:The Door County property in the tax records in owned by a Cureton Family Trust

Nope.JimR wrote:I assume you have 3-5 minutes between the replays ... just to keep you HR in check
It just plays continuously.
I use Alan Jackson's "Good Time" for shorter intervals (1', 500m, 750m, etc.).
35 spm

Rowing to "Good Time," I go along at 1:32 (13 SPI).

My ranger prediction is 6:52 for his next 2k race.

No reason to race at 25 spm, I think.ben990 wrote:My ranger prediction is 6:52 for his next 2k race.
I'll see if I can get some "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" 2Ks going this week.
Each of those should be faster than 6:52.
"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" goes along at 26 spm.

Sure--at the moment.ben990 wrote:Or no evidence against this--whatsoever.
But folks on this forum lack evidence for all sorts of things that happen all the time.
What those on this forum know determines (influences, reflects, parallels, etc.) nothing at all but themselves--their own limitations, misconceptions, fears, anxieties, incapacities, malpractices, etc.

You own a small parcel in your name, as does your brother. The county records a FMV of $38,900.
Additionally, your house in Ann Arbor is taxed at a value of just $155,192.00. Not to be a stickler, but that's not $500,000.
ranger
OK, very different rules from NH. To then set the record straight on the properties you own:
1/2 of the Door County property = $205,000
Double the SEV of the Ann Arbor house plus some = 400,000 (less the outstanding mortage)
That's $600k. Far from $1 million you claimed initially. My intial accusation of egregious lying, I suppose, is just simple basic lying. I apologize. I'll do better work next time.

Well (mrfit) ... if someone told you that they were such a great investor that they had two houses worth over half a million dollars each you would think that reasonable.mrfit wrote: OK, very different rules from NH. To then set the record straight on the properties you own:

But what if one of the 500K houses was assed at about 310K and the other was just given to him by a parent's passing and shared with a sibling. What would you think then?
What would you think if he told you that he trained on a Kurt Kenetic at an HR of 170 and 20+ miles per hour ... but later you found it was only about 17 mph?
What would you think if hw told you he was going to pull a 2K of under 6:30 (it is a lock, a guarantee) and then do 7:02?
So, in keeping with the financial analogy that helps explain all this ... what if the story continues to grow over time ... at what point do we cross the line from "ranges" to "rounding error" to lying???

What do I think?
I think I still like him. It's uncle ranger!
Seeing him write on earthly/common terms would be like Randle Patrick McMurphy's lobotomy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Re: Ranger's training thread
No need to split hairs over his dwellings...it's just another set of lies to add to the list. A quick search of sold properties in his area, cross referenced with taxable values, shows that he's blatantly lying again. In Ann Arbor, MI you most certainly do not double the taxable value and add some. What a complete joke.

Though I suppose the comparison isn't even remotely valid given that a) they can do that session and b) you can't even complete a 2k at 1:40 pace, let alone come close to think about this being 'base pace'.ranger wrote:When I rate 26 spm, I now do 1:40-1:42 (12.5-13.5 SPI)
