Finding an erg in Lisbon?

Post by gcanyon » July 20th, 2017, 12:20 am

I'm going to be in Lisbon for the month of August. The Concept 2 erg finder doesn't seem to include that city. Anyone know how/where to find an erg there?

There are several rowing clubs in Lisbon. I would recommend checking out one of those unless you can find a crossfit gym or something. Most clubs would be happy to let you use the equipment as long as you demonstrate a competence on is and (most likely) pay to use it.

C2 erg finder sounds like a great idea...unless you're in the UK. Doesn't seem to be listed as a country and I'd wager outside of America it'd have the most!!

Not sure tbh... i tried finding a C2 in gyms located in the north east (tyne & wear) of england before i bought my own as i wanted to try one out! Couldn't even find one anywhere at all. Even the sunderland David Lloyd gym doesn't have them!! now thats very bizarre, a gym franchise such as that doesn't even have them.

Seems like in the USA nearly every gym has one.

My goals are simply to keep fit/get fitter and continue to enjoy rowing on the C2 :)

Early 2016 when I started erging and before I bought one, I found lots of places with model Cs and Ds but they were always in a bit of a sorry state. If they were used, people would spend about 5mins on one at a time too. :D
I got some funny looks (or people pretending not to notice lol) when I did a HM in a gym on one. :D

I had actually noticed they seemed to be in abundance way down in the south of england. Typical that tho, that not a single one to be located in my vicinity. Even my own machine came all the way from Milton Keynes  Just got very lucky that the guy offered up free delivery as many won't, most are collect only.

 Funny you mention that... was on a football forum earlier and there is a thread on there about C2's and rowing in general. The majority of the comments is "rowing is boring" and why do people spend so much time on these things (head shakes), and people are even sad enough to do half marathons on them etc etc etc

If only they knew about this place

Haha... defo each to their own eh. I love rowing on the erg personally, yet to find it boring.

Open the link above. If you're on Windows, press Ctrl & F and type in Lisboa, Portugese lingo. There's at least one. About 4th from top.

Looks like there's one club about two miles from where we'll be. I'll send them an email. Thanks!
