There might be a different way, but this way works for sure.

Capture the stroke data by using ergdata or painsled on your iphone or andriod.
Sync it to the online log book.
In the online logbook, click the little magnifying glass icon next to the workout.
On the view workout page, click either the TCX or the FIT button.
That will download the file of your choice to your computer.
Then you can upload it to garmin.

The only clickable buttons on that page (after using the magnifying glass icon) are Rank, Edit or Delete

I can see the distance, time, pace etc across the top line and then over to the right below that are the splits

I'm obviously in the wrong place if you're seeing export options ?

It sounds like you don't have any stroke level data with your workout. If you didn't capture it with erg data or painsled, you won't have anything to export.

Stroke level data ?
I've got the pm5 with a usb stick plugged in - i then uploaded that data via the concept2 utility software on my pc
I also run the ergdata on my mobile phone - but there is no upload function on that and nothing I can see about stroke level data

no idea what I'm doing wrong here ?
cheers

To upload rows from ErgData you need to swipe right to left twice to get to the log screen. From there use the Sync link in the upper left corner. If you haven't yet configured your C2 account use the gear icon on the lower right.

If the time-of-day clock on your phone is correct and the clock on the PM4/PM5 is wrong then Ergdata should ask if you want to reset the clock on the ergo.

Results recorded on the wrong timeline have been a constant niggle on this forum, so much so that I learned how to fix dates on LogCards (back when we used those).

It's not impossible that the ergo calendar is set to the wrong year. ErgData will want to sync to a 2017-18 logbook that runs May 1, 2017–April 30, 2018. If you're trying to sync a workout erroneously dated (say) November 2018 it's not going to work.

By a coincidence, I was bitten by this today. I went to a Crossfit gym, pluggedthe pm3 into my phone, fires up ErgData and started rowing. After I finished, I went to sync and found out the pm3 date was set to February of 2018. The logbook won't accept the workout because the date is in the future.

Is there any way to rescue the data from my phone?

It's not possible, Ergdata is closed source.

When I connected to an erg with the date/time off by an hour it offered to sync the PM5 to the clock on my phone.

I was wondering if there was a way to sync to the dev server or something.
