Well done David, that's a stellar performance. And, while that .2 will provide motivation, don't short yourself on celebrating this accomplishment. One thing I've learned from decades of competitive sport, celebrate each victory to its fullest. I've shorted myself too many times, already thinking about my next goal before my current best performance is even cold. Oh, to have back all those PR moments to savior!

Congratulations! That's some really strong rowing!

Well done David. That's a great effort. I really like what Mark said above and I totally echo his comment

Brilliant David. If you think about it that .2 is only 1/20th of a split, which was probably caused by the race start. That is literally the difference going a split lower in the last 100m would make. It would have been nice to go sub 6:50 but you're basically there and with the right pacing I have no doubt that you will get to 6:45.
Well done!

Tried a 2k today.
Happy with it. Old PB was 7:12.9 or something.

New 7:04.2 / 1:46.0 pace. Rate 29.
DF was at 114 despite me last week talking about 120 feeling better.

It went really well. Almost too well.
Splits:
1:46.3
1:47.2
1:46.8
1:43.9

Was not well rested or tapered. Didn’t feel like death. Acid pain really hit only after and definitely could have ramped up a bit more/earlier. Lungs for sure hurt more than legs.

Plan is to try in 1 1/2 weeks ‘for real’. Might get second or two off if it’s a good day but 7:00 is probably too far.

Happy regardless.

Congrats Kerosene, that's a great effort. But how can it have gone "too well"??

still in the honeymoon period? I would say so...you know when you're out of it because a new PB attempt fills you with dread and the effort is very hard. Massive congrats on your 2K and 10K....onwards and upward. ;)

@David - super new 2K PB for you there, surely more to come? Consistency and you'll be there I reckon.

@ David, congrats indeed. 6:50(ish) is athlete territory

@ Gammo, yeah I am still in the noobie gains territory where mistakes are big and fixes give big improvements. Also myvtraining has been kind if broken, Oct-Dec only trained a little and before that only 2-3 months really. So with consistent trsining and better feel to my limits I can probably get still some easy gains. After that I just have to train a lot and wait for aerobic base to build, I guess.

@ Kerosene - that's a great improvement in a 2K! Congrats. Also, the 10K, too!

@ David - the PP has been great for you (and all the meters). You have a few more seconds in you still I think! Congrats again.

Just got back from the Indy Indoor Rowing Championships. The Indy Rowing Club really put on a nice event. 2nd in my group, 7:11.7, PB by 6.3 seconds. :D

The stars aligned this year on my training. Now I don't have to wonder what could have been last year when I was training in the PP group early in Sept/Oct, showing that sub 7:15 was possible and then got sick 3 times. No flu this year, no injuries and only one vacation (one week) that got in the way.

Ran (for me) nearly the perfect race. Great start, fast but not too fast, held in the middle (just a bit better than expected) and hammed the last 500. Mostly 28/29 throughout.
