1k PB - 3:09.5 :-)
Great effort Martin. That last 100m looks really painful, and very strong
Thanks Stu! You're right, in fact the last 200m were really hard, and my lactic acid shot up so high I almost had to throw up after the finish, but it was worth the trouble :-) I think your 1k "fly and die" strategy was at least as painful as my final sprint

Decided to do a HM for the first time today, kind of on a whim... So a default PB: 1:29:49.2.

Image

Hadn't done real prep so gave myself a soft-ish target of 90mins. Ended up with a few blisters on my right hand but otherwise body feels fairly fine - probably could have pushed the pace slightly. Still, happy with it for a first go
Well done Rob, Congrats! First HM and immediately sub 90min is really fine.

Well done Rob. That's a solid time for a first ever HM. It's tough to know how to pace it when you haven't ever done one.

Woohoo!! Was very happy to see this and glad I could provide some insight for you. The pacing really wasn't bad at all and close to what I suggested, especially seeing the low splits at the end shows you could have held the middle splits more. Next time I would follow the same strategy and just aim to hold the middle closer to 1:35. Great time and you got more!
:D Thanks Keith, your insights were really helpful! Next time I'll have the confidence in the middle splits. I'm really happy with my improvements, but it's a long, long way to match your current times

Bad to hear you're down with a flu, I hope you get well soon! But to see it positive, a break from training every now and then to regenerate can be helpful. I'm often to motivated to take breaks even if I need them and only illness can stop me, it sounds like you behave alike :D
Thanks! Feeling better, going to try and workout tomorrow - I think some easy lifting then maybe an easy Steady State row Sunday. I am bad about taking time away from working out - I know its good to do and when I have done it I have always come back just as good if not better - plus being older I probably need more but....I hate it, always feel like I should be training.

Now that's what I'm talking about...+4m on previous PB and a target I've had for months. Very pleased.

Well done, you dont realise how difficult this is unless you give it a try, although sprints are defo not my thing, I was interested to see how I get on,
did 309m yesterday and after my rather slower than expected 10k this morning tried again with a 315
more possible if i increase the drag maybe.....

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
1:00.0 315m 1:35.2 405 1694 47
1:00.0 315m 1:35.2 405 1694 47

Cheers - I have been de-emphasising (is that a word?) the endurance stuff last 6 months and seeing where I could take the shorter stuff as I also try to put on muscle....at a glacial rate. You in theory have a better build than I for sprints...generally larger people produce more power.

P.S. Your times are not THAT consistent. HM and 10K times are the best of the lot. Nice work...

This was the first time I've really tried to get a pb on the 10k. I got 39:36.0 (1:58.8)
Did it with rate 28. I'm sooo tired writing this. That's intense haha. I'm hoping I'll get a sub 7 2k soon but for now I don't think I'm ready just yet, I was planning to try it at the end of march but I think I can better wait for the beginning of april.

Hot on the heels of last week's red letter day when I broke my 1min PB by more than I thought, I cockily thought I'd now blitz my 500m PB. As such I started pacing myself after 300m as was averaging in the mid 1:28s with the intention of sprinting at the end. In actual fact I just tied up and broke my PB by a truly massive 0.1s!! Oh well...at least I'm in the 1:28s now but the target of 1:27.x will have to wait until a better day I think as some way off.

As you said, at least it put you into the 1:28s - and it's still a PB!

Nonono, not enough fade Paul, you need to start more agressivly, last 100 should be a bit slower, if not you are not empty enough.

The pure sprinters, fade a lot more, think a guy like you should roughly be able to keep pace the first 300, from there a slow fade/increese of rate, last 100 max rating trying to not fade to much.
Next time will be better, and still it was a pb :D
