Monthly challenge

Post by toddrowman » August 24th, 2020, 12:15 am

Hi all,

Looking for a suggestion around a monthly challenge.
This month I aimed to complete 150km of rowing over the month - the goal was cumulative so involved lots of different rows, some days were easier 3-4km and others harder 10+ks with the aim to get to 150km at the end of the month.

For context average pace on the shorter rows of around 4kms has been around 1.55 and the longer 10ks around 2.01
Would love suggestions on a new monthly challenge - should I just go for more distance or what other suggestions around ways to row heavily for a month and have a goal.

Hi,

If you fancy mixing it up a bit there is always the Cross Team Challenge which has a different challenge each month and you can participate as an independent or in a virtual team.

http://www.c2ctc.com/

There is also the FMMC which has a distance challenge each month. Again this is normally representing a virtual team. Although the August challenge is a full marathon

Otherwise, you could look at a training plan to aim at improving a specific distance piece like the 2km TT. Maybe the Beginners Pete Plan would be a good mix of sessions....

Good luck with whatever you decide an remember to enjoy it :)
