FYI/ The benefits of your most gracious help!

Starting the logbook on Jan 13 I didn't know what to expect but these results are making me feel pretty darn good. I know this is nothing for even some of you 63 year olds but I'm chipping away everyday. If any of you who have helped me would like to feel the satisfaction in helping someone who knew nothing, you have more than earned it.

8 x 500m w 1min rest @ 1:52.7 today
2k warm down @ 2:00.5.
(I wasn't sure if I could ever go 2k at 2:00.5 only 6 weeks ago)
I'm working hard so I would be pushing it to say I'd be much faster than 7:30 tomorrow for a go at 2k...but after some sharpening... guessing 7:20ish. My next goal is to get those 500's down to 1:45 pace. I did my normal AT workout stroke rate today (23-24) so if I would have jacked that up to my comfortable 33-35 I could have been (maybe) +/- 1:49 ish.
I don't think 1:45 pace is hallucinating at this point.

Again, all of you have been most gracious in providing invaluable help. Let me know if you ever in North Carolina (Charlotte).

Congratulations, that is a great workout.

Re your plans, not sure what you mean by 33-35 is "comfortable". 500 reps cab be done appreciably faster than 2k if you rate up as maintaining high ratings for 500M is much easier than for 2k and it is only at rates that you can maintain for a 2k that the pace for your workout is representative of your 2k pace. However if you could maintain the same work per stroke at R30 you would already be at 1:45. Losing 20% of the work per stroke when upping the rating might suggest a technique fault (eg artificially long stroke by excessive leanback). Otherwise you would be wasting energy by lightening your stroke so much when upping the rating.

Look forward to seeing your continued success.

Milan’s progress is really motivating to see, especially as a reminder that consistent effort really does pay off over time.
