Erged for the first time today in about a month. Decided to post on here to see if that will help me stick with it.
Did 8x1.5'/1.5'r
Don't have all the splits with me, but they averaged out to be 1:44.8. Not sure how to pace this, so I just went out around the pace for my last 2k. It seemed to work out, but I also could be a lot slower now, so I wouldn't guess it has any predicative value.
Won't be erging tomorrow, doing some rowing in pairs and 8s.

Today it was back to the same old grind, a 40' AIO piece, after a couple of sessions of playing around with oddball stuff that I reported as the "fun and games" topic.
I should be getting around to doing a base mark 2k one of the days so I can use that figure to get back onto a regular program like the U.K. Interactive Programme (sic). I had thoughts of doing it today, but I didn't feel up to par and didn't get a full night's sleep, so I passed on that and did the AIO with rather mediocre results. I did make one variation in it. The middle part was 8' at 24 spm and I was well behind where I would like to be at the end of that, so I followed it with 6' at 20 spm and only 2' of 18 spm instead of 4' each. This made a small improvement in the final total, but it was still a crap workout.

Erged for the first time in a while. Decided to do a 6K "pre-test". What I mean by that is that I know I'm going to be testing 6K several times in the upcoming months so I wanted some base time to go from. I intended to do at 70-80%, so I started easy. But I was surprised how tired I got at around 4K. Had to really keep my focus and finish the workout. It was way too hot and I think I was too tired going in.
Anyway 21:56 @ 23-24 spm. Have some work to do to PR this year.
Rest of the week I'll be back on the water building my distance base for the head races.

Did 1hr 2:10.5 pace@r15. (That's 4-6 SPM below my previous "open rating" runs at this pace.)
Ouch. Less than halfway through, I was wondering if I was going to finish. By the end, I was really struggling to maintain my pace while holding the rating down.
But, in the end, I did it, albeit with my highest average HR yet (164; about 83% of max.)
Shockingly, I feel okay today, except for a little mid-back pain. However, the idea of doing a 15k 1hr @ r20 seems waaaayyyy out of reach. (That's my goal to reach before trying to do a respectable marathon.) Do what I just did, only with 1/3rd more strokes in an hour! I know that fellow lightweights my age can pull it off (hell, lightweights twice my age can do it), but how?
