Back at it yesterday and today after vacation last week. Been through nearly an entire year without getting sick and then went to visit my two adult kids (that live near Austin). Last day my daughter wanted to show us downtown Austin bar scene, which starts around 10PM local time (11PM my time). I should have known better! Then I sat right in front of a guy hacking and coughing the entire flight home! Every single time I fly, never fails...

Sure enough, felt bad Monday and Tuesday (and half of Wed). Finally felt well enough to row yesterday (13 total days off, not what I had in mind!). Did 5K yesterday, 6K today. Roughly 2:12/2:11, 22SPM work. Just felt good to start getting back into it. I'm sure I've lost some progress but I'm not going to sweat it.

Have I mentioned I hate flying?? :x :x :x

Sizeable amount of volume there...I note your forum username...so have you done the Norseman IM? If so, that might explain the volume of your erging session!
Hi Gammmmo yep done Norseman 5 times, first time way back in 2004. Last few years been doing ultra distance running.
But after an accident at work last year meant no running for 5 months I then lost my mojo.

Erging has definitely given me my mojo back :)

Have you done Norseman?

7 x 2000/r3 avg 23 spm. Active rest 3676m.

Did have a bit of fun in last 2000 doing short sprints hitting 40 spm.

5K@1:59.0, R=18 yesterday. Have had a bad back this week (nothing to do with the erg) so training has been reduced but am chomping at the bit...really want to get to the next level.

Hi Dave. No background is cycling - only ever done one triathlon...a 70.3 which I got round in 4hrs 38mins without taking it too seriously (my transitions alone cost me an extra 5 mins!) but TBF it was a fast course and decent day. No, the Norseman event has often caught my eye - it just looks so raw and hardcore - a real bucketlist one to tick off (perhaps when a "normal" IM isn't enough). Big respect ;)

Did my first marathon today. Started rowing in January and have been building up to this since April.

3 hrs 6 min 39.8 secs @ 25 spm, damper at 9. Left ankle felt irritated throughout, some minor left wrist tightness starting at 68 mins. Felt strong hunger pang at 119 mins. First solid feeling of fatigue at 155 mins. Bubble wrap came out at 163 mins. 3 juice boxes, 3 soda crackers and about 750ml of water was consumed in all, spread out across intervals of about 10k. Was felling gassed with 6k to go, but relaxed the pace for about 1000m and regained my air. Ended up having a strong finish over the last 5k. Overall, I feel very good and could have easily hit 50km. I'm very pleased with this first attempt!

Well done Lance, that is a very impressive time for a someone with relatively little experience. Once you get over 35k it does get very tough and it's more of a mind battle to keep the pace or even just finish.

I did 48.2k (30 miles) today and it was a real battle from the start. I knew from when I woke up it wasn't going to be a good day so I'm very happy that I got so far especially as I set the monitor to 45k and did the extra 3.2k as I felt like i could just about squeeze it out. Pace was slower than usual but I needed to slow it down to get done.

Not posted on here for a few days although I have done a few sessions. It's been a bit hit and miss due to work travel with early days, late nights and nights away.

Hope October may be a bit more settled but doubt it looking at my diary

Starting to ramp up the metres this month and started with a 60r20 which went like this:

60 min - 15515 - avg 1.56.0 - 20

10 - 2585 - 1.56.0 - 20 - 139 end HR
20 - 2586 - 1.56.0 - 20 - 147
30 - 2586 - 1.56.0 - 20 - 153
40 - 2586 - 1.56.0 - 20 - 157
50 - 2586 - 1.56.0 - 20 - 161
60 - 2587 - 1.55.9 - 20 - 162

Not UT2 but certainly felt like UT1, got in the groove quite nicely :D
