Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
@ Rod I must have missed that PB from you. Hitting form at the right time. Keep on pushing and you've got in the bag.
@ DNA, sounds like you have broke your mini slump. It just needs a good session and the confidence starts flowing again. Quite a lot of rowing performance is in the head and it can really be detrimental when you let the 'bad' voice take control.

Did something very un-American today - walked to work and back. 2 hilly miles each way with 30lbs loaded in a backpack.

Outstanding Rod! 8 x 500/3r has been my standard hard interval day, so pretty similar to what you did - except I do it slower! It's quite inspiring to see what a fellow lwt of similar age can do (58 in a couple of weeks). Keep up the good work! And best of luck @ World Champs.Rod wrote:8 x 500.3'30r

This was 0.3 faster average pace than last time I did it...which was on the 27th November (2 weeks before the British Championship so fairly race sharp).![]()
Just need to keep it going now...5 weeks to the world champs....![]()
Thank you for the kind words after my 60r20spm PB OtwSL , WattsFromNotts and nick rockliff they are very much appreciated as always.

@ Jack it's amazing how you keep churning out the metres and at a good pace too. Keep them coming

Today:
No PB attempt just an easy 10k. I tried doing this blind, but I lacked a bit of discipline throughout continually checking progress at the end of every song which brought my average up a fair bit. Maybe next time I'll try to not look at the monitor the whole time and see how I go. It takes a lot of willpower but I think it does wonders for focusing on technique!
41:59.4 10,000m @2:05.9 r20
8:27.1 2000m @2:06.7 r21
8:22.4 4000m @2:05.6 r20
8:25.4 6000m @2:06.3 r20
8:32.5 8000m @2:08.1 r20
8:12.1 10,000m @2:03.0 r22
You can tell which bits I looked at the monitor the most. I reckon I was actually on about 2:03-4 from the times I looked. I needed the rest day today to recover from 3 days of hard work. Think I'll take a whole day of rest tomorrow and back to the club on Thursday hopefully.
Glad I didn't try for a PB today as I doubt I would have finished and I am feeling tired after my attempt yesterday. I am pumped for when I try for it on Friday!

@Dean, best of luck with the test.
@ Scott. Good decision. You will more than likely have fallen short of a PB and frustrated yourself even more. A full days rest will really help too. It's just as important sometimes

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
I keep telling myself I'm going to start biking to work in the mornings but the temperature has been 20 or less in the mornings and that's the last thing I feel like doing when I wake up... so I just get in my SUV and drive the 1 mile to work! How American of meG-dub wrote:Did something very un-American today - walked to work and back. 2 hilly miles each way with 30lbs loaded in a backpack.

I doubt I would have fallen short of a PB if I'd done one and finished but rather I would have not got the PB I was hoping for, which would be better so I don't have to do another one. Hopefully so.Dangerscouse wrote:@ Scott. Good decision. You will more than likely have fallen short of a PB and frustrated yourself even more. A full days rest will really help too.
