Dreadfish - Resting Angry Face, haha. When I am on the erg it is more, "Working Exhausted Body," and people just think its so weird I'm sweating so much they just move on.

Luckily the ergs in my gym are over by a big window with no speakers close by and hardly anyone else stays on them for long.

My mistake was going out way too fast in the beginning. I tried to beat my actual 6K PB pace but it was just a bit too much since I've been off the erg for so long.

I'm annoyed with myself but oh well. I'll have to get back at it again tomorrow.
Don't worry too much about it. I kind of had the same thing this time last week when it was a club 5k and I'd had 4 days off rowing. I ended up finishing, but at 20 seconds off of my PB. It was not good because I was expecting to beat it by that much!
It'll be fine, just give it a bit of time and you'll be back to normal!

@ Bill, the occasional HD is part of the process. It's frustrating but they are productive when you build from them

Glad i have my own erg at home.

I can't be dealing with other people and or distractions! A fairly self conscious type as well which won't go down well in gyms.

2x20' with 10' rest. Open rate. DF still at 100 so much lighter than I'm used to.

5466m (1:49.7) @28spm

Total was 10917m (1:49.9) @28spm. This was definitely a tough one but I'm glad I got through it!

A new British record for the 60-69 Lightweight Category so well pleased with that, I felt there's more in me but don't really want to put my back at risk with the world championships coming up next month and with all the preparation work I'm not sure where I could fit another go in so that's that for this one. :D

Thank you again for the kind words after my recent training reports OtwSL, WattsFromNotts, nick rockliff , Dangerscouse, VeloMark they are very much appreciated as always!

Great job Rod. Records seem to be being beaten every couple of weeks with you Rod. Congratulations!

That is a solid session to pick you back up from that HD. Strong stuff well done!

Today:

Similar to Tom's session. 2×6k SS at r18 and 90 secs rest:

12000m @2:02.5 r18
6000m @2:03.7 r18
6000m @2:01.4 r19

Well I think it was quite hard in the last one. When you're with teammates in the club and constantly competitive it is easy to try and beat them. Today I was trying to beat someone with a 5k 6s/500m faster than mine. It does feel rewarding when you get within .1 of a split of beating them even if they are doing 3×6k rather than 2! I doubt it was harder than an easy UT1.

Coach was feeling evil so 100 burpees afterwards!

Tomorrow is my planned 10k so getting pumped!

@Rod, well done on yet another record! All bodes well for your race!

@Dean, I can see why that would work the legs, good session!

Thursday, 18 Jan

HM. 1:27:52.0, 2:04.9, R21, HR 151, df 110.

This was a struggle, if I'm honest. I went off too quickly in the first 10k, averaging 2:03.5, which then led to a gradual decline in the second half. My HR wasn't even that high, I just felt tired and kept losing my focus. I nearly quit at least 3 or 4 times, so the main positive I'll take is that I completed the session. I think my hour of 'power' R18 sesh yesterday, combined with a poor nights sleep (thanks dearest daughter) all contributed. Mentally strong even though physically weak, so thank goodness for a rest day tomorrow!

Good training everyone. Inspiring stuff.

9K in a 2X on a very chilly windy afternoon. Feels good to be out on the water in tough conditions when many wouldn’t.
