r20, 2:12.1 so managed 13,617m so I'm pleased to get some good metres in at the start of the week.

Did 51k last week and trying to increase my distance until I hit about 60k. Not sure how I can fit much in beyond that - suggestions welcome!
Row faster? :D

Totally bummed.... took 5 days off then went back tonight and had what I consider a terrible session...

- 1000m warmup @ 2:11
- 3x2500m/1:30r @ 1:59.8 / r316m / DF 160 / SR 26 (I had planned to do 5)
- 5 min rest
- 3x500m / 5:00r @ 1:44.4 / DF 140 to 160 / SR 31 (target pace was 1:45)
- 5 mins rest
- 100m @ 1:23.5 / DF 185 / SR 43 / 0:16.7 (I was expecting to see a 0:16.3)

Left the gym feeling annoyed with myself. The erg doesn't lie.... I've been lazy.

I noticed some of you mention music during your workouts. I struggle with only music. Netflix has become my best friend during workouts in my basement.

The full Monty today. Spring is sprung, so I got the bike out and did a 40min circuit up the hill behind the house before lunch. Beautiful views over the Alps and Annecy lake. That was as well as my usual bodyweight + abs + yoga before breakfast. In the afternoon, 40min cardio at the gym including an easy 5k erging in 22:46 sr23.

A summer training like that and I might actually get fit :D .

I've been working pretty hard on my recent 30min sessions, so today was a fairly easy going row. I now love the erg again after this one

After squats and benchpress I did another 4x500 /r3:30.
Total time was 6:50.9, something like 1:40.X, 1:40.X, 1:43.X and nearly 1:47 the last one.
It was a nice improvement because last attempt was around 6:57 I think but I end up so burnt after every 500m that I dont see myself puting altogether a nice 2k. I'm afraid of even trying.

Any of you have any idea of what time should i have at 4x500 in order to have a 2k as close to 7 mins as possible?

Tonight's session
45 min
11292m
1:59.5
25 spm
Really annoyed at myself tonight. Got to the gym. Did my warm up then got into my row. After that went onto the weight part of my workout and promptly felt a pop in my lower back. Couldn't complete my weight session so went onto the bike to warm down. Got home and lots of pain.... gonna have a bath and see how it goes overnight.

You say nothing about rest. If you take 3min rest, I think you need at least 1.39

8x500 on 1 min rest is around 2k pace.
On 2 2k minus 2
0n 2k minus 3 ish

Why don,t you try 8 reps? Start out "easy" for the first 4 and from there speed up, but make sure the last is the fastest.
Doing only 4 is more for 1k.

There is nothing to be afraid of, its only a row.

6K@1:50.2 (TIME=22:02.4 SPM=26, last 1.2K@1:48.4 spm=28 i.e. it wasn't a bad effort but didn't get it all out) earlier, so...no cigar yet  but I will log/verify it as it'll incentivise me to try again. Didn't feel quite as good as Saturday when I logged the above i.e. the split average maxed at 1:50.7 whereas on Saturday it maxed at 1:50.0.

Thanks Henry, doing 3min 30secs rest, saw it in Pete Plan with x8 and cut it in half to x4 because I'm fiting them now and then in lifting days as of late.
Will try the x8 as you suggest and will try to go slower. For me 1:40 is nearly as fast as I can go for 500 m and that is why i end up toasted after every 500m.
Maybe i could go for 1:50 for 8 reps and improve from there. My problem is that I can never do negative splits as they call it in any kind of rowing. I always start too strong and end up very weak :_(
