Well, we had timed 6k's today and I got 22:52.5, which is .5 off my best. The last 6k I did before this was no where near as consistent. This one, my average 500 varied by .5 the most except for the last 500 which was 1:48. I'm gonna go for a 1:52 avg next time.
PB's:
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1

Step Test to ascertain Max HR, which ended up being 178.
Amazing what new HBP meds have done ... last "max" was 161 while medicated with "old technology".
Onward and hopefully downward ... pace that is ...

17’ r20 1:57.7 214W Avg HR 162.
Today was a hard day. My HR was way higher than it should have been. 162 vs. 143 three sessions ago. Yesterday was high also at 156. May have bitten off more than I can chew. I have completed two full 20 session cycles starting at 80% of r20 TT Wattage. This current cycle I decided to try 85% I think 85% is to much so will back it down a little and see if 82.5% is manageable.

Attempted first Step Test as workout 1 toward 2K erging season at 5PM.
No heart monitor. Is this really necessary?
2:18.2 on 24 for 868 m 132 w (2:20 target)
2:10.8 on 25 for 917 m 156 w (2:12 target)
2:05.9 on 25 for 953m 175w (2:06 target)
2:01.4 on 26 for 988m 195 w (2:00 target)
1:57.7 on 29 for 1019 214 w (1:56 target) held 1:54/55 for 2:10 then gasped for air, slowed rate to 24 for 30sec then tried to pull back up but only holding 1:57/58 pace.
Not sure just end of day or mental. Or both.
But then sunset rowed about 4-5k otw in double afterward, easy rate with newbie on board. Flat water no traffic, just humid as all get out.

1st timed 10k ever. Got 39:43. Pacing was OK, although I held it too low for the first 1000 (1:56). 3000 left was the hardest thing ever. I wanted to just quit. Fought through it and sprinted last 500m down to 1:51 avg. Overall avg: 1:59.2. Stroke rate was 24. I dont know if I would consider this a PB (as during the winter I held 1:59.1 for 40min, so not really a pb.
PB's:
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1
8,989 meters, including warmup and Eddie Fletcher's magic intervals. Smooth.

Just curious why you'd do a step test with no way to capture heart rate?

Outstanding ... the perseverance will be called on in the future, just like drawing money from the bank ... you'll be glad you did it ... nice row and nice recovery from the first 1,000!jbell wrote:1st timed 10k ever.
