Spoken like a true West Coaster. Laid back!

2K W/U today for me at 2:11. 2 X 1K/3' @ 1:52 and 1:51. Managed to stay at around a 27 SPM or so throughout (good for me but still needs work!). Worked at a bit of a lower DF (around 105 or so). I'm sure that helped. 2K CD @ 2:10.

Struggled through a HM (1:22:08) as the 100km has drained me more than I realised or possibly wanted to realise :D

Today I did a 10 minute warm up at 2:09 and then 5k at 1:55, 26spm.

I'm just coming back to the board because since getting the erging bug in March I am closing in on my first million metres (only 20k to go) so thought I'd just post this today.

I started off going for 2k and 5k PBs almost every session but now mainly do longer steady state stuff at 21spm or thereabouts. Now I think I want to break 7 minutes for the 2k and 19 minutes for the 5k - I'm currently 2 seconds off sub-7 and 1 second off sub-19.

Had a period of sub-par health but thankfully seem to be just about back on track. My body kind of seems like it could be good for rowing (roughly 198cm, 96kg) but I don't appear to have the best engine! Also, still trying to find the best drag factor - my current thinking is that it's about 115 for 5k and about 120 for 5k - but I'll keep learning.

I don't post much but the advice and knowledge everyone shares here has been really helpful.

Thanks for providing motivation and knowledge.

PBs -
1k 3:18.2 | 2k 6:59.2 | 5k 18:32.8 | 30min 7,910m | 10k 39.20.0 | 60min 15,089m | HM 1:26:24.3

Rowing since March 2017, for fitness and to challenge myself.

I suspect the two could be related. Sounds as if (like me), you're a bit obsessive. I made myself ill by overtraining and also am just coming back. My comments in the online concept2 logbook after my 2k PB are telling. Three months of moaning about my health until I started to actually train again.

You can't do a breakthrough workout every day. You have to build the aerobic engine over time.

I've been a bit naughty today. Wednesday is supposed to be my rest day so that I don't put myself in the ditch of overtraining again. But since the missus is out, I did a quick 10 minute warmup and then 5x1:00/1:00r intervals. First intervals I've done since my burnout. Managed a sustained 1:40 pace and 300 metres for each minute, so will build from there.

Considering I did a 1:40.6 1000m back in 2016, pre burnout, I have a way to go to get back to full power. No way could I sustain that pace for three times as long right now.

Did 14x250/2:00 rest capped at 30 1:32.6 avg, does anybody know how is this indicative of a 1k/2k split? I felt I could have gone for another 4 at the same pace and rate, for 2k I rate 33(keeping light strokes) so I guess i could rate around 35/36 for a 1k, btw how indicative is this of 1/2 k split?

I'd say more indicative of your 1K than your 2K. The rest is too long to have a good indication for 2K speed.

In the past I have used 12 x 250 on 1 min rest as 1k predicter. Not much help I fear.
Really don,t think it relates well to a 2k time.

Ok what I was thinking was either: next time to bump it up to 11x300 same rest or to try 8-10 x250 on 1' rest What do you think (I'm training for 2k and already doing steady state)

Do you think that getting longer intervals each time May help for 2k fitness? So I will have the same or more rest and get to 300 then 400 then 500.

10K today for me. 5K X 2/1' 2:08/2:07. SS work, not pushing hard (22/23 SPM stuff).

Weights yesterday.

Today i done some interval work, first time in many months.

8x500m/1:30r @ 1:49 r27

This wasn't too much of a lung buster, just feeling my way back into this stuff gently.

I had wanted to screenshot the session but my PM5 started flashing warning battery empty or not present 2%.

So time for some fresh ones.

My initial reaction to this was 'no way!' but I think you're probably right - and my wife says you're definitely right about the obsessive bit. Thanks for your comment.
