Congratulations to Sir P, who started this thread seven years ago, on a worthy effort of 6:46 at the British IRC yesterday.

Well done Phil.

I'm trying to do 2 miles a day this month and so far I've only missed one day (work :? ). I've made a private promise to myself to make up any days missed by adding a few metres to the next ones as I'm aiming for a monthly total of about 100k. No scientific or objective reason for this figure but it seems to work as it makes the training manageable - less than 12 mins a day!! so v hard to think of excuses not to do it!

Hi everyone -

I've been using one of the training plans generated by RowPro on my Concept2. Actually I bought my Concept2 last July and I'm starting my 7th week of my 5th Row Pro training plan. This is the first one I've done as "training" for a 2000m race. I had my first timed trial today and came in at 7:59. That puts me at about the 35% percentile for men 40-49 according to the world rankings.

I would have thought that I would be better ranked than that given the length of time I've been at this. Couple of questions: are the online rankings a good measure? It seems people with weaker times would be less likely to publish their times.... Second, for those who do the 2000m race, do you go essentially full blast the entire time? I seem to go in 2 minute spurts - as hard as I can, then ease off for about 3 minutes, etc. I'm just afraid I couldn't keep up the full pace the entire time. Maybe I'll just have to try it on the next timed trial and see what happens.
