Has anyone tried the rowperfect? Any difference from C2 with sliders?

Yes.
Yes, but not much regarding the feel.

Paces for a given effort depend highly on the boat selection on the RP, so that is difficult to compare.

Good piece of equipment, and been discussed quite a bit if you search the forum.

I was considering the RP but decided on a model D with pm3.

First of all, whenever I have contacted RP, they have been very slow to answer, if at all. Even when I just asked for the price, there was no prompt response.

Thus I don't know much at all about the RP, it's durability, or the functioning of the monitor. I've heard it's a great machine, but have little idea about what it is like or how long it would last. I'm sure that I would love to row on one, but saw on the net that people need to be careful with them to prevent damage. Maybe that's the same as the C2 but who knows.

Also they cost more than the C2 ergs do.

I am pleased with the resale value of the C2 ergs. I bought a model C from ebay 2 years ago for $550, used it quite a bit, then sold it a couple months ago on ebay for $122 more than I paid for it. That's a deal that is hard to beat. I'm got a model B in 1993 and am going to sell it in a couple of weeks. It's in top condition so I'm hoping it goes for a good price too. We shall see.

The primary think I do NOT like about the C2 ergs is the railing that slopes. That is why I chose to keep the B when I sold the C. The railing on the B is more level. When I called to order the D I asked if they could sell me one with a railing that was level, but they said they don't make them that way any more. Too bad. In that instance they don't provide what I'm looking for, and that was the PRIMARY reason that I was considering to get a RP instead. However, their feedback was terrible, and the C2 service is outstanding.

Otherwise I pretty much like everything about the C2 ergs. The pm3 monitor is archaic compared to the pm2 but it works, and I can get around the problems "okay" so that's workable. The albatross is the railing. However it's not that big of a deal to make an extra back leg and use that when I get annoyed enough with the railing going up and down every stroke. I did that on the C and used it most of the time when not going for times in the rankings, though it doesn't really make any difference for the time.

Wake up C2, and offer at least an option for the railing to be level! All that needs to be done is to make a set of back legs that don't go up as high as the current ones. No big deal. Based on a poll we took a couple of years ago, at least half to 2/3's of forum members would either like a railing that is flat, or to have the option to have it flat if they wanted.

The slides are cool. I don't have any comparison with the RP, but have seen people comment that the slides are about 1/2 way to as good as the RP. They definitely give you a great feeling of pushing with your legs, and I like that a lot. I rowed with the slides all summer and have hung them up for now, but that feeling of rowing with them has stayed with me.

I do recommend getting the slides and rowing with them if you can. They are fun and also interesting. Be aware they do take up a bit more room than the erg does by itself. I have them hanging on the side of the garage wall when not using them.
