Trying to decide which method to use for my 2k

Well 2k season is coming up yet again and im not sure what technique i want to use. I have always used negative splitting but i have been coversing with my teammates and they seem to think i hold out way too long and then have a momentous sprint at the end.

CRASH-B looked something like this last year:

1:52.0
1:54.0
1:53.0
1:46.0
______________
1:51.3

I know its not exact but that's about how it went based off what i could see in the replay.

basically I was just saving up for the sprint because I knew adrenaline would kick in as it always does.

But maybe this time I should try something more like

1:44
1:46
1:46
1:44

I dunno, is there a way that is seen as better or is it whatever works for you?

my goal is 7

20 seconds better than my last 2k (march 20th, 2008 7 months ago)

although Im almost 10 lbs heavier and ive been lifting as well as training on the erg...

Pay particular attention to posts by Mike Caviston.

IF you don't want to read all of that do this:
1:46, 1:45., 1:45, 1:44. DO NOT DO ANY STROKES BELOW 1:44 IN THE FIRST 500m. That includes the fist ten strokes on the start. It will take a little while for the average to get down but don't worry about it--the first few strokes will average out.

Thanks for the help.

Going to be quite hard not to take any below 1:44 in the beginning with all that adrenaline. I can try though. I may have my first one of the season next Wednesday and im pumped!!! I'll report back.
