Tabata intervals

Post by diger » December 12th, 2008, 12:38 pm

To all:

First of all, thanks for providing this forum and answering our questions.

My Question- is there a maximum number of Tabatas I should do in one session. My current workout is:
34 minutes steady pace, approx 2min 34sec per 500 meter pace
10 sets of Tabatas- 20 sec hard pace (approx 2.08 500 meter pace
10 sec rest
2 minutes cool down, total workout 41 minutes

Thanks for your help.

You're supposed to exert yourself to the point where you can't continue at anywhere close to the same pace after the 8th interval. As you're doing 10 right now, I think you need to pick up the pace. If you go as hard as you can, you probably won't be able to manage more than 4 or 5 intervals, but at least you'll find the Tabata training pace fairly quickly.
