Hitting that Brick Wall - when is it going to happen?

Post by James_Ryde_RC » August 17th, 2009, 12:10 pm

I am 5ft 10, what is the absolute best 2km time i can hope for?

This may sound abit sad but I recently did 4 minutes at 1.38/500 and in the last 30 seconds I struggled for strength and had their not been some girls in the room I might have cried 5 minutes later for 2nd interval I rowed 142.7 for the 4 minutes.

I have been following a programme where I have been rowing on the ergo 5 sessions per week UT2 UT1 AT TR and AN (have not gotten to AN yet in the 26 week programme)

So far I am able to meet the targets and generally push myself to improve by 1 second on each level and when it's AT I can row consistantly at 1.45/500 for 10 minutes. And at this point I could probably get a 2km time with a consistant 1.42/500 split.

I actually Row on the water aswell so I am getting training there, currently I row 4 times per week on water and 5-6 times per week on ergo and I cycle to and from work which amounts to 45minutes per day.

So when is this wall going to hit, anyone 5ft 10 and rowing 6 minute 2km times? if so I want to hear from you.

James

So what's your present 2k time at the moment or have I missed something?

PS If your doing 10mins at 1.45 then forget 2k at 1.42, you should be looking at a lot quicker than that!

On UK Forum there was a thread looking for the best time for a <6fter. i thisnk the best found was Pete Marston at 6:11.8.

Re 1:42 average for 2k, if 1:45 were your best for 10 mins. A 1:42 2k would be adding 5.8S for every doubling in distance. If this was a more typical 4.5-5 then 1:42 would be too fast. So a realistic 2k will depend on how much could be shaved off the 10' if done on the limit.
