stationary bike question

Post by kipkeino68 » March 1st, 2009, 3:30 pm

My wife has a recumbent stationary bike. I'd like to train on it in additon to the erg.
I have no idea what is a good time to shoot for, and what is the watts I should hold it at.
I tried it after my erg workout today.
I set it for 10 minutes and keep the watts in the 200s. This felt good.

I plan on doing 30 minutes.
How many miles would be would be average vs outstanding in that time limit? Is a recumbent bike easier to get a good time vs a standard stataionary bike?
Thanks

In 30 minutes, I typically cover 10-11 miles. Try to do a pyramid with the resistance, 11-12-13-14-13-12-11 or some combination like that. Keep the RPM above 80 and you will have a really good workout - and it does help with rowing a lot.

Thanks for the advice. I did 15 minutes today for 5.6 miles. I like this pace. I'm going to build it up to 30 minutes.
