Steve, you're one of the people on here most inspiring to me, so I hope you're able to keep at it.

I've been trying to better my 30 minute distance, and finally got close yesterday but it wasn't quite there.

It would be nice to have a training discussion for the skierg, maybe just for lightweights, either here or on another new thread.
Why would weight matter for the kind of training someone does? Getting a lightweight class would make sence in a way. Although I get the c2 point, in crosscountry there are no weightclasses....

In the end, its about us against ourselves...
Have had password issues but am glad that's sorted out.

HJS, total agreement with your comment. Know every time that I step up to either the rower or Skierg, will be near the bottom time-wise. Also know that doing these provides excellent workouts that contribute to my health, both mental & physical. If / when I go back to triathlons, the erging maintains my swimming fitness to where I'm competitive. Have done this already, so know it works. Also supports cardio fitness for running, where my holiday running streak is alive.

With retirement looming, looking forward to more easily balancing erging & other activities. Plan on 'picking it up', not rusting out. Grateful for others here (John, Kini, HJS) on the forum that I can be inspired by & learn from. Keep erging & posting. Side note...in prep for retirement, bought a new Skierg! Don't plan on stopping anytime soon :) SWW
Nice positive post Steve. Sounds good, its all about liking what you do and staying fit. Comparing to much against others is not overly usefull.

I finally bettered my 30 minute pb this morning, by 70 meters. and by 1.7 seconds on pace.

time meters pace spm
30:00 6272 2:23.4 43
06:00 1233m 2:25.9 43
12:00 1242m 2:24.9 43
18:00 1250m 2:24.0 43
24:00 1262m 2:22.6 44
30:00 1285m 2:20.0 45 .. 60df

My times have been leveling out, due to not having much speed. I would like to turn that around somehow, if possible.

Very well done, John! Curious, what is your 5k PR? Just noticed the link to your training log. You put in a lot of meters on the Skierg! With the new year is a transition to an increased running focus but will still be erging. Einstein said everything is relative and from here, your times look impressive and give me something to chase :D . Again, congrats on this and future PR's, as they'll all be hard fought.

Ray and Steve, thank you very much. :D

Steve,
My 5k PR is 23:29.5, which along with my 10k was flat out and close to my top speeds for shorter distances.
I've been doing a lot of meters to build up a base, probably not needed that much for the Skierg, and am planning
to reduce it eventually. I'm very impressed with your 2k best time, especially as you're quite a bit lighter than me.

In retrospect, my limit is not speed, but the strength to hold my speed and go faster. I had a good session this
morning to work on this, and plan to continue while getting more lean. I've also been thinking to get a Bikeerg,
but there doesn't seem to be much interest in them. Meanwhile I already have a bike trainer ready to use any time.

What running events are you aiming for next? Keep up the good work and have fun. :D

Steve, thanks much for your generous compliment. :D

What issue are you having with your shoulder, and how's the recovery coming?

Surprise, new 500 PB, smashes previous best by 4.9 seconds.

John, you continue to smash records :o and by almost 5 seconds! Will be surprised if the 2000 doesn't follow.
Regarding my rt. shoulder, very old rotator cuff tear that was never repaired. The whole 'wing' is out of whack and once in a while lifting heavy overhead or overuse catches up with me. Will eventually settle down but think I'll still be green with envy of your PR's, even with a healthier shoulder. Congrats again on your new 100 & 500 PB's.

Great work John!

Steve- I have rotator cuff issues. My orthopedic told me "no overhead lifting". Haven't had any serious issues since I stopped doing overhead presses.

You're right, Kini, I should not be lifting overhead. Occasionally need to rooftop a heavier canoe or kayak, so gets me once in awhile.

Was inspired by the group and tried a for 2k PR last night. Hit 9:17.2, so missed my record set in 2014 by 7 seconds. This was my second fastest skierg 2k, so at least happy with the effort...

Way to go with the 2k, Steve. Great to see you back in action.

New 1 minute PB, beats my pace from a week ago.

1' / 250 meters / 2:00.0 / 49spm / 100df - hopefully I can beat this again.

First 1/2 marathon @ 1:48:42. Pacing wasn't great, I had more then I should have to drive the pace down the last 1/3, will definitely have to start faster next time, but pleased with my first effort!

Well done, Fischer.
That's impressive to already do a half marathon.
Based on your speed, you're going to continue improving quite rapidly.
