SPM?

Post by TX_hammer » July 4th, 2025, 1:16 pm

Hi all,

Curious as to what SPM you fall on when doing say 1000m intervals with other exercises between each ski?

6’2 195lb M. SkiErg I use I typically set the DF to a 110. Cruising speed where I’m not killing myself out is about 31spm @ 1:55/500m. If I’m upping the cadence to say 38-40 I’m hitting the mid/upper 1:40s. What should my spm be for these sorts of intervals as well as longer pieces like 5k, 10k. Last 10k I did I was pulling 1:56/500 @ 33spm which was a while ago. 2k was 6:47 @ 43spm

A SkiErg stroke rate in the low 30's is indicative of an excessive stroke length. Shortening the stroke and getting the drive more from your hips/core, you should be able to maintain stroke rates in the 40's even in endurance sessions. In 1000m intervals stroke rates in the 50's are appropriate.
