What do people think about personalised training plans?

Post by toch12345 » June 11th, 2019, 3:56 pm

Hello! I am new here and recently starting rowing. I am considering improving my fitness levels by using a personalised training program but I do not know which one to get. Any advice?

1 Learn to row with standard water style (see any sculler video from abeam or C2 technique video).
Use the recovery sequence: hands away, swing, then slide. Long strokes, plenty of them but no hurry, the flywheel won't stop if you use low drag.
2 Row at low ratings (18-23) for a year or so, 5k a day and about 2W/kg
3 Add some sprints with the same stroke but at 30-35 and 4W/kg.
4 Never stop longer than 2 days.
08-1940, 179cm, 75kg post-op (3 bp).

Yes, my advice is to not purchase a personalized plan. Focus on improving your form/technique. As a novice (new rower), you will see improvement from the simplest movements. Row in front of a mirror and get your form to match the Concept2 videos as closely as possible. For initial workout ideas, use Concept2's Workout of the Day (WOD) and their Concept2 Podcast (available on Google Play Music or Apple iTunes).

Not really needed, but for some it can be usefull to have someone tell then what to do.

Depending on goals..

Free plans, are the Pete plan see the thread on this forum, wolverine plan is also free, but thats more advanced.
