Vastus Medialis Pain

Post by winniewinser » October 17th, 2020, 5:18 am

I picked up this injury after doing the 8x500s the other day but I think it was something in the cooldown rather than the step up in pressure. It was further aggravated the following morning when putting a barbell down awkwardly.

It hurts to climb stairs but walking is generally ok. I get caught by it when I'm dealing with the new pooch too.... bending down a lot for loop duty 🙄😁

The muscle is tender to the touch ATM. I've applied an ice pack and tried foam rolling it. Anyone else got any tips other than rest? Should I stick with cold treatment or mix it with some heat?

Despite rowing not feeling too bad I'll frustratingly try a few days off 😕

I'm not sure mate, but heat is only beneficial to me when it's a muscle strain, which I assume that this isn't?

Certainly ice, rest and elevation for the first 48 hours. I would avoid foam rolling at this point.

Thanks, I'll continue with ice packs and rest. Like most times when I get an injury I believe I can push through and it ends up dragging on
