Post by Tyn » May 5th, 2007, 2:20 pm

Read something about Carnosine,

anyone know something about this?

It's an antioxidant and should make you quicker and stronger!

This stuf should be in meat!, but I'm a vegatarian, is there anyone that uses this as a supplement?

Or is this some kind of illegal drug!?

Going to search the internetthing now!!

Happy Rowing!

A lot of the stuff on the market is snake oil, like one of the posters said. Anti-oxidants have been hyped a lot and I have yet to see scientific studies in peer reviewed journals pointing to their benefit. Every decade is littered with the detritus of debunked health fads but the beat goes on.

That's because as P.T. Barnum said: "There's a sucker born every minute".

Tyn,

Carnosine has been used to treat peptic ulcers and is purported to help in reducing lactic acid build up. Most doses come combined with some sort of zinc salt which also works the same way.

Most likely unless you are suffering from a severe protein deficit, you'll probably only benefit slightly at the marginal if you take this. It's water soluble so you'll just piss out any overdosage ($ down the drain) like overdoses of Vitamin C. But since it converts into histidine which becomes histimine, if you have respratory allergies it may increase their symptoms.

Unless you're a purist vegan, eat some fish. Your chese diet should be giving you some source of animal protein.

Happy swallowing.

Thanks ST!!

great response!

This helps!!

And yes I'm a pescotarian!

I eat the 'fruits de mare' and fish!

But being aware of all animal issues concerned, maybe I will skip the fish-thing !

No $ pissing for me!

We use the Euro!!

again Thanks!!
